Nadia. Please submit a little more information about your
lifestyle and macrobiotic practice. Most all skin problems are related to taxed kidneys due to excss build up of fats which is transported to the surface of the skin by a sugar "trigger"
instead of release through urine. Usually a balanced macrobiotic diet with small amount of salt and regular heat compresses to kidneys will resolve this problem within a short time. Depending on the specifics of your situation certain specific herbal preparations (internal, external topical) can be suggested, but we need more to go on here....

Look forward to your reply.

In peace, Roy

psoriasis treatment

thank you for your reply, I will speak about my situation, I am 21 years old Lebanese staying in Kuwait, my height is 177 cm, my weight is 73 kg, before 11 years since 1990 I had psoriasis during the Kuwait invasion, the petroleum field explosion (Environment Pollution), it started in my head only, and before 2 years it spread in my whole body, doctors gave me medicines all the kinds of cortisone and daivonex with creams, when I use them it will reduce the marks for a while but it will never remove them, then it will come again and increase the marks more and more.

I am having in the morning my breakfast, tea with honey. I stopped eating mango, banana, sugar, milk, cheese and sweets but I am still eating meat, chicken and having carrot juice, till today I still have these marks in my whole body and I don't know how to treat myself and to solve this problem.

Please if you have any solution for this problem I will appreciate your help.
Thank you
nadia

Nadia. First let me express my sorrow for your hardship for environmental pollution due to war time problems. Is it possible to move to a different area where there are no prominent toxins in the air or soil? I feel as long as you remain in this polluted environment your problems will persist.

Second, to make skin stronger and increase natural ability to eliminate toxins from body it is important to STOP eating ALL MEAT products, but allow only a small amount of poached, grilled or baked fish a few times per week. NO HONEY – this is stronger than refined sugar and is triggering discharge of meat toxins and environmental toxins to from body through skin pores which is being acted upon by bacteria. If you need sweet taste better to use small amount of fruit and more raw salad.

Most importantly you need to eat more whole brown rice and not use too much broken grains like tabuli or cous cous. You need 2 cups of BOILED whole rice with a little pinch of sea salt two times per day as main food with steamed vegetables and only a small amount of bean products per day. Miso soup (soybean paste) should be eaten once daily. It should be made with wakame seaweed and onion only. Try to avoid all wheat
products like bread and crackers. Too much oil is not good and NO TAHINI. You need to eat very very simple and clean to make blood clean and keep kidneys from getting stuck with toxins and fat.

You can take vegetable soup of any kind every other day but use NO HOT SPICE in it. Garlic is OK. Only a little sea salt. No vinegar or alcohol as this works like sugar too.

Try to keep liquid intake to 6 – 8 cups daily. Use green tea and Pau d’arco (50/50) as regular tea but other herbs such as chamomile and peppermint is OK. Try to find the
supplement (pill) called BLADDERWRACK and take with tea three times daily. Another important herb to use now is EVENING PRIMROSE as the gamma-linolenic acid in it is one of the best known substances for restoring and maintaining health SKIN.

After 11 years of using cortisone creams it is time to discontinue as it is well known that prolonged use of this drug causes fragile bones, diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, and other vision problems, THIN SKIN, and retards growth in children. Drug passes into milk if you breastfeed baby. The main idea of this cream is to reduce inflammation of skin. However you can achieve the same results by drinking the Pau d’arco tea and using garlic, bladderwrack, and Evening Primrose, along with taking special OATMEAL BATH and making your own HERBAL SKIN CREAM. I will give you the recipe here:

1. OATMEAL/HERB BATH: use ½ cup of Oatmeal that has been finely pulverized in a blender or with mortar and pestle. ¼ cup lavender flowers, ¼ calendula flowers. Place all ingredients into a cheesecloth sack and tie with string. Add to half tub of hot bath water. Use this bath 3 times per week at night before bed.

2. SKIN CREAM A: Combine 1 teaspoon of TEA TREE OIL with 1/8 cup cold pressed sweet almond oil or apricot kernel oil. Mix together and apply using a cotton ball directly to affected areas of skin. Do not use beeswax or petroleum oil in skin cream. Use this cream as needed

3. SKIN CREAM B: You can use juice from the leaves of Aloe plant mixed with fresh seaweed and a little chamomile tea and grind up together to make a thin cream and apply to skin. This cream has no oil in it so it allows skin to breath better to let skin toxins out but does not provide good barrier to environment. You should use this one day and Tea Tree Oil cream the next day. Keep changing daily.

I hope this helps.

In peace, Roy

Hi Nadia. Better to use fresh soymilk instead of milk, but a little unsweetened yogurt on occassion is alright for you -- I would stay away from citrus fruit, because too much acids. A little lemon in tea sometimes should be OK. What are some non-acid fruits that grow in your area. Orange is usually not recommended in macrobiotic healing diet but a little can be used in cooking. Cooking makes most foods more neutral (between yin and yang).
Does orange grow naturally near you? Can you find someone in your area to teach macrobiotic cooking? There are some people in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emerates that may be able to help you -- also in Lebanon...

You can ask questions whenever you like.

Hi nadia. Brown rice is powerful food and is forcing body to make repair. However one meal of natural foods should not be enough to make so strong a reaction in one day. However, If you can tolerate itching well it is OK to continue. If discharge becomes to strong then you will need to return to some of your regular foods as this signifies you are changing over too fast.

Please have more variety in diet, like soups with lentils, maybe whole wheat chapati (no yeast), steamed vegetables, sea vegetables, fish, etc. Go slow with all of these changes. You should also read more about macrobiotic way of eating and hopefully find a macrobiotic cooking teacher near you as well.

Let me know how things go through the rest of the week. Don't forget to make baths and skin cream. For the itching you can use sliced pieces of raw onion and apply directly by rubbing on itchy parts.

Hi roy, nice to hear you again, I want to tell you that I am still eating daily boiled whole brown rice with carrot, Homos, soybeans, sea vegetables and fruits like apple or Kiwi and I am drinking Chinese green tea. I stopped eating wheat, brown and white breads from about 4 days, only I am having whole brown rice.

I want to thank you for all your advises it's really useful and helping me too much, until now I didn't see any improvement but internally I feel that I am fine and comfortable, the result still didn't appear externally I am waiting for that maybe because of my work nature, using computer too much, and this is causing stress on me, I think I need time to get improvements.

The recipes which you told me about, I didn't find some of the contents like Lavender flowers we don't have it here and tea tree oil, I will keep looking after it.

I want to ask you something please I am using Medical Cetavlon Shampoo, is it OK or I should use another kind.

I wish that I will tell you soon I became ok, and I have no psoriasis this is really what I hope and I pray for it.

Thank you very very very much Roy for all your advises.

God Bless you.

Nadia

Nadia. You are welcome for any suggestions I can give to you. I think that the basic diet you now have sounds pretty good but I would like to see you eat more soups, especialy MISO which helps remove toxins from blood and especially kidneys. Also more greens (steam or salad). Can you order any natural foods on-line from where you live? Cybermacro has an on-line catalog of foods and other health products. There are other companies as well here and in Europe, etc. So you need to go on-line and do a search on internet.

Tea Tree oil is especially good for your condition (externally only) and on the scalp as well. Many shampoos are now made with Tea Tree because it kills bacteria on the head and is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Again you will probably have to order on-line from a health food company. The shampoo name you gave me does not sound familiar but most likely is one that contains salicylic acid, coal tar, chemicals, and probably some cortisone to control pain and inflammation. These can be effective for short term use but if you keep using it they can irritate the scalp and absorb chemicals into skin pores on the head into the blood stream.

Try to find a natural shampoo that contains Tea Tree Oil, Zinc and Evening Primrose Oil, because these are most effective
for your condition. If you cannot find this, then try to find any natural ingrediet shampoo and add 10 drops of ESSENTIAL OIL of Tea Tree, Eucalyptus or Peppermint. But I am sure you can order Tea Tree Oil on the internet. Tea Tree Oil is now being sold commercially in nearly every US pharmacy. Ask your pharmacist to get this for you. The latin name is "Melaleuca alternifolia."

If this is impossible then you should use a herbal hair rinse AFTER you shampoo hair. You can make your own but will need the following dry ingredients:

1 teaspoon burdock root
1 teaspoon chamomile flowers
1 teaspoon calendula flowers
1 teaspoon lavendar flowers
1 teaspoon lemongrass
1 teaspoon sage leaves

Put all dry herbs in a large bowl and pour 2 cups of boiling water over the herbs and cover with a plate. Let sit for 1/2 hour. You then strain the liquid out and throw out (or compost) the herbs.
Then add 1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or grain vinegar, or vodka to the herb water and mix. AFter you shampoo wash out hair and then pour this mixture over scalp and rub into hair. Make sure herb mix is not hot. Leave this mixture in your hair all day.

If possible try to exercise body more with yoga or walking. Too much time in front of computer will weaken your body and immune system. You may want to use some different grain beside whole rice sometimes, like millet, or barley (in soup with lentils or black beans is good). You can add celery, parsley, parsnip, carrot, onion, garlic, etc. In homos do not add too much tahini as it is too oily. Otherwise you are doing fine and I am proud of your inner strength and conviction.

In peace, Roy

Thank you for encouraging me, I will do with all your advises, I am having Miso soup daily and seaweed.

I will check the on-line catalog of foods and other health products as you advised me and I will try to find Tea Tree Oil on the internet.

Something else I will make a nutrition blood investigation to find out what kind of food is reacting with my blood.

I don't know how to thank you for all your advises. I am very sorry for disturbing you with my emails and for wasting your time with me.

I hope you are living a happy life.

God Bless you,

Thanks

Nadia

Hi Nadia. No problem for me to give you suggestions. I am honored to be able to help you and admire your courage to find alternate ways to take care of your long time suffering. The miso soup daily will help clean blood tremendously. In Japan women who eat miso soup make claims that it is good for the complexion. Other tests show that it can remove hevy metal toxins from the blood. Just use only a small amount in the morning with seaweed and onion. Seaweed also removes environmental toxins from blood.

I was in a health food shop yesterday and also a pharmacy to look for tea tree oil. Both had the same product made by Australian company called Dessert Essence. You can probably do a search on the internet using this name as a key word. Also ask you local pharmacy to order it for you. You can put ten drops in one bottle of natural shampoo to help control the skin problem on your scalp. Then you can do a herbal wash after.

I have a question for you: what type of outter clothing are you wearing on a regular basis and what material is it made from? Do you wear traditional long Sari (robe) that covers most of your body with head scarf? It is best idea for the skin to breathe to allow toxins to leave body and sunlight to heal. Therefore try to use loose fitting clothes and keep to a minimim so arms, legs, and head can breathe. Clothing should be all natural material, no synthetic. No nylon stockings. Cotton, silk, wool, etc. is OK. Can you wear cotton shorts and tee-shirt around the house whenever possible? Can you allow arms and legs to show in sunlight for a few hours in the day?

I hope this helps.

In peace, Roy

Hi Roy, I will try to find Tea Tree Oil in the internet even I will check in the pharmacies here I hope that I will find it, thanks for giving me the name of the company who made it.

About my cloth, I am always wearing cotton I don't wear nylon or silk because here in Kuwait the temperature is too high in summer, now in winter I am wearing cotton too and wool. I don't put any scarf on my head.
Inside my home I am wearing cotton shorts with tee-shirt I can't wear it outside because you know, the situation here in Kuwait is different than Lebanon and USA.

In Summer I am putting tee-shirt so the sunlight can come to my arms but my legs I have to hide it because of the psoriasis in it so I am wearing trousers and long skirts.

I want to ask a question please, is there any thing else other than yeast I can put it with the brown flour if I want to make chapati at home, my mum is cooking my food and she is asking that, I am telling her about your advises and what she is suppose to cook for me, she is saying hi to you and she is thanking you for all your advises and for your concern.

Thanks,

nadia

Hi Nadia. Sounds like you are already doing the right thing with the clothes. You have good intuition. Continue doing the same but keep adding variety of greens/soups to cooking. Chapati is OK on occassion but even without yeast the FLOUR is not with energy, unless you make the flour in the same day by grinding it. Then you add water and a pinch of sea salt and maybe tiny bit of olive or sesame oil and maybe cooked onion or rosemary herb. Make into balls and flatten then bake. Yeast interferes with healing because it expands and makes intestines weak. Sometimes a little is OK but when you are getting better you can have a little more. You can put chickpea (homos) or vegetable spread made with cooked veggies and a little miso (like Australian Vegi-mite) onthe chapati. Have with nice lentil soup. Aduki red beans are also beneficial for you. Another tea to have to make liver get rid of toxins is called Milk Thistle Seed, but plenty of greens (raw and cooked) work just as well. ALso shredded white radish is good. Have a good week.

In peace, Roy

Hi Roy, Thank you a lot for the recipes, I will do it for sure.

May I know what is the quantity of Miso soup I can use daily? And is it harmful if I use it more than the level? I am using a quarter teaspoon daily is it enough.

Something else please, from your experience, maybe you've seen like my situation before, do you know how long it will take to get a good result after using this diet.

We are here in the beginning of winter, I think that psoriasis will increase because of the cold.

Thanks Roy
Have a nice day

Nadia
