Transitioning to Macrobiotics/Post Pregnancy

Hi everyone,
I have started on my path of macrobiotic eating in an attempt to lose about 60 lbs of post pregnancy weight. Although my sweetheart is now 14 months my whole system has radically changed and I can't get the weight off which is really affecting my ability to control my Type 2 diabetes without medication.
ANYWAY...my question is on the Kushi Institute site, they mention that soymilk and soybeans are recommended foods but on a site called Alchemysomething those are listed as "foods to avoid". Also, how often should I eat fish and could you give me an example of your typical daily menu and portion size? Everything is given in percentage and I find that a different approach to portion control.
thanks

Because you are new to macrobiotics and making this transition just after birthing, plus having the more chronic form of diabetes,
I would take care to go slow into macro and to eat a wide variety of greens, wholegrains and some beans on a daily basis -- keeping the veggie part as the highest percentage. Vegetable soups of all kinds are good and nutritive. Pressed salads are beneficial as well -- full of enzymes. A small amount of miso soup with a little tofu should also be taken daily, and depending where you live, a little fish a few times per week.

The soymilk should be made fresh from whole soybeans with no additives except for maybe a little yinnie grain syrup or mixed 50/50 with amasake (home made if possible but not necessary). You can put on dry cereal, oatmeal, rice porridge, etc. Try to eat 1 cup of cooked brown rice daily as your main cereal grain. Some fruit is OK if you live in a warm climate. Green tea steeped with parsley (leaves and stems) is good blood sugar leveler. Try walking about 1/2 hour daily. Eat small portions but a little more frequently than usual if hypoglycemic. Think pure, simple, and whole.

Try finding a macro cook in your area and begin classes. You can get a lot of good information on macro basics at these classes. Look over the some posts here as well. Be very careful not to get too salty and of course stay from all simple sugars, jelly, honey, white flour products, alcohol, fruit juice, etc. There is much to learn.

I hope this helps.

In peace, Roy
