need more protein!

i am getting very cold and weak. my chest is tense, hands and feet numb.
i know i need to eat more protein, but have a hard time letting myself more than once a day. i sought the help of a dr of tcm who is supplementing me with b-12 shots and chinese herbs to raise my blood pressure. she really wants me eating eggs and chicken.

do people eat protein with every meal? and what sources of protein besides beans and soy? also, experience with eating smaller meals more often? i haven't had a period in over 4 months, and will not if i continue to eat this way. any guidance for how to get out of the diet trap?

blessings,
Waller

Re: need more protein!

try tempeh, natto, sprouted grain bread that is flourless, always eat grains and beans together, combining allowes for a complete protein to be formed and utilized by your body. nut and seeds in moderation. an egg or fish once in a while. You may be overly yang, if i remeber from your previous posts, and you should be care full about eating egg, fish, tempeh, and should use them just to sumplement and good diet of various whole grains and beans together. try cooking brown rice, sweet rice and adzuki beans together with kombu. good luck, keep doing your best, and your health will improve everyday.

Your chinese medical doctor seems to want you to eat more yang. Eating beans and the like would be yin and possibly the opposite of what you need.

Re: need more protein!

i'm only passing by...

i'm just coming back from kushi institute where i spent the last couple months
and i should recommend you to eat GOOD QUALITY fish every other day.
you can also eat beans 1 cup twice a day, not including the meals you eat fish.
those are the recommendations given to me , and i have to say it works pretty well.
watch the excess yang though.
don't hesitate to drink some sweet veggie drink and serve fish with lots of leafy greens and/or fresh grated daikon .
a fresh grated granny smith will help you in the morning.
i hope this helps

patrick

Re: need more protein!

Patrick,

So how has your life changed since being at the KI? What did you do there for two months? I would love to vicariously feel what you may have felt, as I truly doubt I will be going there, money and family issues, still it sounds like such a lovely thing to do. But I do wonder what happens to people afterwards? do they continue? when it's not as easy, when real life makes it more challenging? when all those wonderful teachers aren't there for support?
