sinus congestion/common cold
My 4 year old managed to 'get' a cold (I knew he was eating too much fruit). His sinuses are congested, he coughs frequently due to post nasal drip and occasionally sneezes. The mucus discharge is clear. He has no fever, but is significantly less active than normal.
Some of the remedies listed in the Kushi book are not feasible (due to non cooperation) with him...plasters, rinsing sinus with bancha salt tea, ume-sho-kudzu tea. Any suggestions? He is feeling pretty miserable. This is the first time he has missed school all year. I am feeding him soft brown rice with millet & kombu(2:1) or brown rice with job's tears & kombu (3:1) and a 'soup' made with lotus root, collards, onion, carrot, parsnip, burdock, and barley miso. He had some cooked barley flakes (like oatmeal) for breakfast. I have also been rubbing the tip of his toes (sinus reflex) several time a day and given him Reiki several times. Am I forgetting something? Many thanks for your input, Leenie |

Re: sinus congestion/common cold
Hello, try cilantro, scallions, cabbage and cauliflower in your broths. Tips of toes and fingers, around ears, between eyes are good points. Carrots cooked help the sweet tooth. It could be related to pollen a bit too, so I gave my girl a little honey. slippery elm lozenges, pulsatila/ chamomile. Warm baths are the best!!

Re: sinus congestion/common cold
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm sure that he has some spring allergies. He also gets 'this' in the fall. I'll keep your suggestions handy for the next round.
Thanks. Leenie |
