L-Carnitine

I've read on several places that some diets may not include sufficient amounts of one or more nutrients for a variety of reasons. Special diets such as weight-loss, pure vegetarian and macrobiotic, as well as several others, can be lacking in certain nutrients.

Does anybody knows is it true that there is no L-carnitine in macrobiotic based dietary and if not, in what food can L-Carnitine be found?

Re: L-Carnitine

L-carnitine is produced in our kidneys and liver from methionine and lysine (with the aid of vitamin B6, vitamin C, niacin, pantothenic acid and iron). Healthy people make their own L-carnitine and do not need to take L-carnitine as a supplement.

I am not disagreeing with you, Blue Dolfin, you are absolutely right. But - there is always a but, isn't there - not everyone is as healthy as he needs to be to manufacture that L-carnitine. Some people have liver congestion (not recognized by western doctors, but only in western naturopathic and old-fashioned Chinese medicine), a condition where the cells are not ruptured, but the whole works is plugged with...whatever - fat, metabolic wastes, socalled heavy metals, etc. As a result, the liver can't take the raw materials and make them into L-carnitine. So, that is why people with energy deficiency problems do well when they take L-carnitine as a supplement pill.

This is why "liver cleansing" is so popular these days, tho the need for it isnt recognized by most doctors.
