Organic or locally grown?

Hello everyone!

I'm new here, please read my post in the intro section if you're curious about my story.

My question:

I live in Massachusetts. Given the choice of purchasing organic carrots, daikon, burdock, kale, etc., grown in California, OR the same vegetables grown in Massachusetts but NOT organically, which would be better? I have come upon this dilemna many times lately and have been choosing the organic versions from across the country thus far...

Thank you,
Rachel

ETA: If it matters in your answer, I have no health problems whatsoever and have been a strict vegetarian for 4 years prior to my recent journey with macrobiotics.
