Are raisins OK?

Hi,

I was wondering if using raisins to sweeten food is OK? I have been putting them on my whole oats in the morning. I also snack on them throughout the day. I have been wondering if they are too sweet, but I haven't found any info suggesting I should avoid them. Any opinions on raisins would be great.

Thanks,
Alanna

Re: Are raisins OK?

Hi Alanna,

Upon looking in Michio Kushi's newest book, "The Macrobiotic Path to Total Health", he specifically warns against the use of raisins frequently, saying they have a very high concentration of simple sugars. This is for people who must limit simple sugars, and the use of fruit for their specific condition.

Raisins have a high concentration of simple sugars. If this is not helpful for your condition, I would avoid them.
