Question Kitchen equipment

I'm looking to buy some items for my kitchen which I can't get anywhere in the UK (although if you know different, please let me know!)

I'm looking for reccomendations for online cookware shops that will deliver overseas to the UK.

I need:-

- a pickle/salad press
- flame deflectors
- a stone hand flour mill

Or if you have any creative alternatives for other implements that will do the job, let me know! (I'm currenlty using a bowl, a big plate and a heavy weight for making pickles, but I am sure there is an easier way!)

Many thanks,

Fiona

Hi Fiona
I am also from Scotland so if you let me know the area I might be able to help you find the things you need. You can read my story at this site http://www.alchemycalpages.com/obesity2.html.

I know of a number of places where you can purchase macrobiotic items both online and off!

http://www.clearspring.co.uk/ is an excellent UK supplier, you'll find most things you need here pickle press included.

From obese to gorgeous!

Kathy,

The after picture is one of quite a gorgeous woman.

Davie is lucky to have you.

Unfortunately, the URL that you posted does not link to the page for all of us to see, so let me see if I can rectify the situation, somewhat:

Is that a Shetland pony with you in the picture?

Thank you, very much.

Hello Kathy! I'm in the Glasgow area. Most of my things I get from Grassroots.

Clearspring are stopping doing retail mail order next month, so I think I'm going to start using Damhead.

I'm very impressed by your weight loss - well done! As Bruce says (paraphrasing!) You're looking v. foxy! I've dropped about 40 pounds since I began but have a little further to go...

It's actually lovely just to know someone (anyone!) else is my country is on their journey...

Fi

Thankyou for the compliment Bruce and Fiona!! I felt very good the day that photo was taken a couple of years ago!!

When you mentioned Glasgow I thought of Grassroots straight away! I was there once when my daughter and I went to view Glasgow University, I really liked the shop and they stocked everything foodwise that I needed. That was a couple of years ago so I don't know if it's still as good. I live near Kirkcaldy, am 46, married with 3 daughters 1 son and 1 granddaughter.
Anyway feel free to email me if you just want to chat!

Have you got a flame deflector yet? I know a little local hardware store that sells them and would be quite happy to post to you if need be.
Here is a link for an online UK organic supplier http://www.simplyorganic.net/
and this is a link where you can find a UK directory of online suppliers http://www.naturalhub.com/

hope this helps

thanks Kathy!

Kathy,

Yes, Grassroots is still fabulous, I can't tell you how relieved I was to find them after 3 months trying to cope on what I could get from the supermarket.

They also do cookery classes now - I was at an excellent series of Japanese lessons last term, which adapted very well to macro (once you take the sugar out of *everything*!)

Thanks for the kind offer of forwarding flame deflectors - I have a friend bringing some over from the states next month for me now, but your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Thanks also for the links - I will investigate!

Fi (busy pickling everything in the fridge now my press has arrived!)
