chlamydia and gonorrhea
I've been practicing macrobiotics for about 6 months, and was recently diagnosed with both chlamydia and gonorrhea. Any macro recommendations for these 2 STI's, so I can avoid the antibiotics? Thanks!
Sincerely, James |

Re: chlamydia and gonorrhea
That's a tough one, James. I wouldn't want to be the one to tell you what to do, especially about the gonorrhea.
According to some MB teachers, a truly MB person isn't susceptible to these diseases in the first place. According to me, antibiotics can and do work wonders, and intestinal flora can be reestablished. I had an interesting experience with tetanus, which supposedly cannot be cured. It happened during my 5th year of MB practice. I was riding a horse wearing beach thongs - yeah, a stupid thing to do - and had to jump off, and landed on a large rusty spike which went all the way through my foot and out the other side. I hadn't had a tetanus immunization shot for maybe 15 years and was advised to go get one immediately. I decided not to get the shot and instead got very strict in my eating for several weeks - almost a #7 diet. Then one morning I woke up unable to yawn and my elbows were stiff. I thought to myself, "Well, here it is, I asked for it, I got it, tetanus!" But later that day I was just fine and no more symptoms. About 19 years later, I was bitten by an angry housecat. To this day I have four little round scars from the fangs on my arm. He bit all the way to the bone. It was one of the most painful injuries I've ever had. You can't imagine how bad a cat bite can hurt until you get one.... Anyhow I was again advised to get a tetanus shot, and again I refused, and suffered no ill effects. I treated the wound with grapefruit seed oil and colloidal silver. I have no idea if you can clear up STDs with diet alone. Maybe you can, but on the other hand the long-term damage from gonorrhea can be pretty bad so I'm not sure it's worth chancing. Just my two cents' worth. Do let us know how what you decide and how it goes, alright? |

Re: chlamydia and gonorrhea
Having worked with infectious diseases, Chlamydia being one of them, I would highly encourage you to take your course of antibiotics. Continue to eat a MB diet and be sure to increase the amount of fermented foods (miso, shoyu, Amazake, pickles etc.) while taking the antibiotics and for a few weeks afterwards.
It is possible that you are still discharging toxins and not up to full immune potential or acid/alkaline balance. According to "The MB path to total health", 'dietary extremes, especially the consumption of strong acid producing foods and beverages are the primary cause of viral and bacterial infections.' Please be sure that your partner is tested too. Women can go for years being asymptomatic. This can scar the fallopian tubes resulting in infertility. Some motherly advice is to be sure to always use a condom unless you are certain that you are in a mutually exclusive, monogomous relationship and ready for parenthood. I know, no one likes them. Thanks, Leenie |
