seedy situation
Just started eating from a new 5lb. package of pumpkin seeds. And every time I eat them in about 4 hrs I have gas , hard intestinal cramping and tightness in the esophagus.
I am not sure if a.-- my preparation of the seeds was improper or if b. --these seeds are tainted with contaminante. Addressing my preparation, I roasted the seeds but I noticed this batch did not start popping like usual. I was in a hurry so I did not rinse them prior to roasting. However before I even knew to rinse them I had no such repercussions. concerning contaminates - you know there has recently been contanimated gluten from china in pet food. I don't recall what overseas country these seeds are from. I placed them in a freezor container, discarding the bag. So , I will prepare a small quantity carefully and eat them one more time . Anyone been in a similar situation. |

Re: seedy situation
That's quite amazing that you're able to pinpoint what the source of your gas is. I think lots of people experience gas and there's so many things in the diet, it's hard for most people to realize what specifically causes it.
So is that the ONLY thing that has been different for you? Someone once told me she was advised to simmer her pumpkin seeds, so as to make them more yin, then once the water was out, she'd keep cooking til done. I also try that as I figure more yin seems better for me, tho it doesn't always get to the poppping stage, I do enjoy how it tastes. Also are you perhaps eating TOO MUCH of them. my friend loved them and was shocked when she was told she was eating too much. I have maybe a tablespoon or two to put on food, or to mix into a sauce (usually with a suribachi). Five pounds seems like you are probably thinking in large amounts, and maybe eating too many?? I hope it's one of the above, and not contamination - how on earth does one test for contamination?? If you take a break and not have any, do you still experience any discomforts????? Klara |

Re: seedy situation
I just saw this on yahoo:
http://health.yahoo.com/experts/drma...005p63mtd1kIV4 Most of the info wasn't new to me - well, all of it wasn't, but there was 640 responses - that was a mind blower. I assume anyone who practices mb already knows about using good quality cookware as well as non-poisonous cleaning products, but never hurts to be reminded. Klara |

Re: seedy situation
I know about how not to eat too much seeds, nuts etc.
To recount each gasious experience & previous diet would be tedious but believe me I have gone through the route thoroughtly. I have indulged but the gas episodes were before and after that. (Kalluha choc chip cookies - sigh) Yes, I am refraining from these seeds for 1 week. |
