I have macro experience! love to chat

My Aunt's name is Elaine Nussbaum....A macro guru for nearly 25 years.
I've grown up eating this way and could not make a roast if my life depended on it. my three kids are dairy free and love yummy foods like seaweed, miso, seitan etc..... I have recently buckled down to strict macro and I feel in control and healthy.
Elaine wrote a book called "recovery"....really inspirational

Cybertova,

Welcome to Cybermacro!

I'm starting to read your aunt Elaine Nussbaum's
book Recovery from Cancer: The Remarkable Story of One Woman's Struggle With Cancer and What She Did to Beat the Odds http://store.cybermacro.com/Recovery-From-Cancer.php that I found out about from reading Sheldon Rice and other's posts at MacroLovers of Jerusalem http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group...rsofJerusalem/ and Klara LeVine's post at macro123 · More discussion of Macrobiotic Lifestyle http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group...123/message/88 and been touched by the love and appreciation that they have for her.

I've been looking but haven't yet found a picture of her.

Were you born into macrobiotics or get introduced to it at a very early age?

Thank you, very much.

Hi bruce. thanks for your intrest. sorry it took so long to reply but I still have not masterd this forum stuff...
Elaine learned about macro around 1985 or 1986. I was like 12 years old. My Mom slowly transitioned us in to macro. She became fully macro and we ate it as the "side dish" until we were fully integrated. It actually got to a point where my siblings and I would say. "seitan broccoli stew for supper? YAY! ". I don't know how to cook alot of what people call "normal foods". I have been eating foods like "millet casserole", "tofu noodle(Udon) casserole", "mock chicken soup", "lentil soup", "miso soup", "tempeh fingers" "nishime" "natzuki" "aduki squash stew" etc, etc.... for a long time... I just recently eliminated all sugar, dairy, meat, processed foods and I'm loving it.

Hi Cybermacro

I hate to do this to you but my mother has recently read your Aunt's book and I was wondering if there was anyway to contact her or her office. She would love to speak with her and get advice or information because my father has esophageal cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes, bone and now they believe his lungs. Due to his chemo and radiation everyday he is unable to travel long distances so and is currently in the hospital with congestive heart failure. She found your Aunt's book very informative and inspirational and believes that would be the best thing for him. She is hoping this will be the best thing for him. If there is any information you can give it would be greatly appreciated and again I'm sorry for asking you this way but we are in much need of help. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Dear Daddysgurl,

I'm so very sorry to hear of your Father's suffering. Elaine's story was very powerful and she lived a good long time after her experience, but I truly regret to say she is no longer here with us. But there are many others who have also experienced wonderful recovery with the help of macrobiotic principles. And there are many wonderful counselors out there who can give your family assistance.

You can probably do research on the computer to find someone near you. You can tell us more details, where you live, what you already know about macrobiotics, what you've tried, and maybe someone on the forum can help you further on the road.

Just know there is hope!!! There are many to witness that healing has come through macrobiotics.

Klara

I had the same question as Daddysgurl, and would have liked to contact Elaine directly. I am sorry to hear she is no longer living. This news begs the question of what she died of, if i might inquire. It also keeps us all aware of the life-death-health mystery, macro and not.

All best regards,
macro-newbi

Re: I have macro experience! love to chat

Hi macronewbi,

life-death-health mystery is indeed the ultimate mystery - and there are as many responses as there are people. The beauty of mb is that many many have had positive experiences where they did not succeed with allopathic ways, in fact were discouraged of any chances with allopathic medicine, and greatly encouraged BUT NEVER GUARANTEED with mb - that is indeed the mystery - we know there's a life force wanting wholeness and health - and we know the mb way supports that life force. I already wrote, there are many many many stories of so many that doctors gave up on (which in a way was fortunate or they wouldn't have tried mb) and yet lived on to surprize the doctors!!!!!!!

yet we always seem to be dumbfounded when death hits - like we truly truly think we can live forever - but death is part of life, just not a part we are fully comfortable with or understand - at least not me. But I've yet to meet someone who's lived a mb way and hasn't said how much more alive and healthy they feel.

Daddysgurl, it's been 1/2 a year, I'm almost afraid to ask, but how is your father?? Did you ever find anyone near you that you can consult with and get help?

cybertova,

Are you involved in the mb world? do you teach, counsel, etc?? Do you also live in the New Jersey area??

Klara
