Hello from Massachusetts!
Hello Everyone!
My name is Rachel, 24 years old, been a vegetarian for more than 4 years, and have recently turned to macrobiotics. I've been eating and preparing 100% macrobiotic meals for a few weeks now. I'm very lucky to be in a part of Massachusetts close to other macrobiotic people and have had the pleasure of attending some macrobiotic events already. I am so excited to be a part of this way of life and am already feeling amazing. Vegetarianism helped me feel great, but now by cutting out the refined junk I feel even better (except for the runny nose, but I understand this is part of the process!). When I'm not cooking and eating the best food on the planet, I am a clinical evaluator of schizophrenics for a non-profit study in Boston, play drumset in several rock bands, and am in a sketch comedy troupe. I graduated from college in 2002 with a degree in neuroscience, and am delighted how much of the science I've learned fits so perfectly with macrobiotics. I am a very curious person by nature and will have many many questions! Thank you, Rachel |

Hello-
I am in JP, 30... was strict macro a few years ago and now I am trying to lay a strong macro ground for a less rigid way of eating. I had been vegan at one point and a lacto ovo veg at one point (in total for a little over a decade) I found myself in the hospital for gastritis and numerous vitamin and mineral deficiencies but mainly a nasty vitamin b-12 deficiency. Now I have found that I can function more clearly with a little bit of animal protein and after releasing the guilt of eating meat again after ten years of vegetarianism I feel better. I switched to macrobiotics in NYC and when I moved to Boston I found it difficult to maintain the lifestyle with the partner I was with at the time. At this point I can't bring myself to a strict macro practice but want to reincorporate a majority of the elements back into my life and diet. I am looking for other macro and "macro lite" people who want to hang out every now and then and cook. Thanks Michele |

Re: Hello from Massachusetts!
Just wondering...lactoovegetarianism consists of? I am not sure if that is the term exactly but I've read something similar to that idea... I am figuring no dairy or animal product or is there more to it? Just curious thanks
