Australian Macros/Vegies/Vegans
Hi Everyone,
Its great to discover such a lively forum. I'm a Vegan in Melbourne Australia and I'm interested in finding out about every form of Vegetarianism, especially macrobiotics. There is a thriving community of Vegetarians and Vegans here in Melbourne. There are around 50 Vegetarian restaurants. There are two internet based organisations which promote the vego lifestyle and set up regular social events. They are: 1)Vegetarian Network Victoria www.vnv.org.au 2)Vegansunite http://www.veganunite.org.au

Peter,
Macrobiotic resources in Australia: Ilanit Tof in Melbourne http://www.littletree.com.au/ , there are the Sidney restaurants started by the author of "Nourish", Holly Davis http://www.globalgourmet.com/food/special/2000/nourish/ , Sandra Dubs Whole Foods classes in Malvern, Victoria and on video http://www.wholecookingvideo.com.au/, there's the "Macrobiotic Handbook for All Seasons" in Marrickville, New South Wales http://www.self-healing.com.au/MACRO/macro.html , you Have Chef Tony Ciodo from the Grainaissance Wholefoods Cooking School in South Melbourne http://www.ozevillage.com.au/gs/clas...chiodo_classes , in Faulconbridge, New South Wales, you have Marcea Weber's (author of "Naturally Sweet Desserts: The Sugar-Free Dessert Cookbook", "Whole Meals Cookbook", and with Daniel Weber: "Macrobiotics and Beyond") Cooking School - Healthy Secrets http://cookforfun.shawguides.com/Mar...5404&pi=22&q=1 , and there still might be the Australian School of Macrobiotics: cooking school by Natalie Jung in Prahran, Victoria http://www.hospitalityguild.com/Culi...%20Schools.htm . Sadly for Sydney (and happily for Chicago, Illinois), you have Karla Walter of Understanding Your Health, Inc. http://www.macrobiotics.com.au/home.htm who has recently moved to the States and set up a private clinic in Evanston, IL. So, Australia has a lot of macrobiotic things going on to check out. Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine Last edited by Nancy; 03-15-2005 at 03:26 PM. |

Re: Australian Macros/Vegies/Vegans
Hi Peter,
It is always nice to see somebody from Melbourne that is interested in Macrobiotics, as it seems not many around. I have been practising MB for about 1 year, not 100% absolutely strickt, as my work doesn't allow me to cook, but pretty much all the time. I would love to find out how many MB people there are in Melbourne and make a group of people meeting up cooking together, chatting, comparing notes ec. I certainly feel the need for some support! Anyway, just thought I give you a -Hello, and would love to hear from you. Mia |

Re: Australian Macros/Vegies/Vegans
Hi guys,
It would be truly fantastic to organise a camp of some kind, maybe somewhere between Sydney and Melbs so we can encourage people from both places and anywhere in between to come along. I'm a Sydney girl, looking for contacts, especially in the realm of affordable cooking classes. Really loving the cybermacro forums at the moment, have my fingers in many pies, learning lots from the experienced macros. Ilanit I had a look at your website, it is great, have added it to my favourites. Hope we can come up with an idea for a camp. Even if only five or ten of us wanted to do it, it would be very cool.
