hello everyone!!
I 've been interested in macrobiotics for a few years now, but i couldīnt commit myself totaly to it yet, i've tried to avoyd any sugar for some weeks, and eat almost a vegetarian diet , couldn't cut on dairy. I live in my parents house and i share many meals with them and they donīt seem to be interested in my macro cookings....
One of the things i would like to ask, is about a problem i've been having for quite a long time (years) i go trough periods when i find it impossible to wake up in the morning, i skip a few classes and sometimes i only find energy to get up in the afternoon, then it goes away,i'm 25 and iīm studiing at university (Communication studies) but i keep having these lazy days, well they are more hibernating days, could anyone have a yin yan perspective on this kinds of feelings? thankyou so much |

Lazy Day http://www.tunefan.com/lazydaylyrics.htm
tofumania, it's obvious that you are sleeping so much because you are tired and perhaps your blood is tired, too! but you are telling us so little about yourself that we have too little to go on after all, we are not psychic! (except for maybe one of use who has been channelling The Medium http://www.nbc.com/Medium/ lately ;-) ! ). Tell us more about your diet, your activities, your lifestyle, gender, use of drugs or alcohol, etc. Are you really a tofumaniac? Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |

Re: hello everyone!!
hello Bruce , thank you for your answer...
You are right, about me not giving enough information , but i guess i was trying to understand how i relate to sleep, so i asked about sleep... if that makes any sense.... The thing is i'm not tired, i really sleep too much, and i do it more times than the times i dont get enough sleep. I'm 25 these days, and i think i begin to oversleep more often since i have begun studying at university at 18, in those days i didn't have my works finished i would just stay sleeping so i wouldn't have to go an explain why i hadn't finished my school projects, besides i eventualy ended up changing my field of studies because it was going so bad.... I was studying architecture and now i'm finishing comunication.... But i haven't changed so drastically, and it worries me... It has evolved to not earing the clock in the mornings , and sometimes dont feeling i have energies to get to school, that day.... lets say in a week there is always one day i dont go and in o others i skip the first class ... Obviously when i get out of bad very late , i cant go to sleep early that day, but most times i could still get enough sleep if i woke up on time 6 hours sleep is not that bad i think.... I guess the reason i sleep so much is more phsicologic, but i wandered what i could do to become more energetic and fight it.... I think it gets worst in winter, but most times i loose my mornings in vacations too, i lack motivation to get up.... More information: i'm a girl, i still live with my parents and my mother cooks for dinner and i ocassionaly eat meat, i eat fish, but when i cook i make macro meals, or at least vegetarian, i still eat sugars, but not too much, i drink milk, but not on a daily base....I'm in betwen diets... Re: hello everyone!!
hi tofumanic!
I'm not sure if this is the sort of answer that you're looking for, but I'll add my two cents. I've recently been in your position. I'm around your age and I just finished grad school. I'd also gone through days where I absolutely could not wake up. I slept through alarms, the phone, etc. I've found that since I've completely eliminated all caffeine and refined sugar from my diet and made a point of not eating anything at least 4 hours before I go to bed, this situation has improved *tremendously.* I still study late and go to bed at 4-5 am, but I make sure not to snack after midnight. Quitting caffeine was much more difficult than cutting out all sugar, but it has also vastly improved my quality of sleep. I don't actually get any more hours of sleep than before, but I no longer need "hibernation" days! ![]() I hope that this helps. Best wishes, Noele Last edited by nla8; 01-22-2005 at 08:33 PM. |

Re: hello everyone!!
Thank you so much for your sugestion. It seems quite simple and yet I had not thought about it. When i first started to be interested in Macrobiotics 3 years ago,is when i decided to quit smoking. And now i remember that one of the reasons i wanted to quit at that time was to see if it would help me to wake up more easily, and in fact it did , for a while....By that time i also tried to aviyd sugar in any form for a couple of weeks and then, allowed myself to not being so strick, not because i was lacking it but because it is dificult to eat a snack without sugar when not at home.So i allways related the fact of eating less sugar to making it easier for me to quit smoking, but i had not related it to sleep..., i started yesterday to eliminate all sugar of my diet, and see how it goes( lately i'd been eating much more sweets than usual, particularly chocolate, I cant imagine to cut chocolate completely, but i can set it to very rare ocassions) I shall report to tell if it has helped my sleepeness in a week or two .... |
