Newbie
Hi, I'm new to the forum, but not totally new to macrobiotics. I tried it once before and felt great, but ended up with sugar cravings and didn't know what to do so bounced back to my normal diet. Now I'm back to looking at macrobiotics because I've gained weight and have health issues, but I have two little boys for whom I want to be around (my sons) and I see macrobiotics as part of getting me back to healthy. I live in the San Diego area so getting the foods aren't really an issue and I have several cookbooks, but getting the support when I'm having issues like the sugar cravings is and I'm kind of hoping I can find some others in my area through you guys as well as get some of that support through you. Thanks!

Re: Newbie
Hello friends, am from India and I believe not many people are aware of macrobiotics here, it was because of my habit to get to know more about the dietary means of the world I came to know about this diet. Also I read in some magazines about the usefulness of this said form of diet. But in most cases as I have seen people who speak about their experiences of this diet tell they ended up with sugar cravings and some believed it was the best way to lose weight.
I decided to join this place entirely dedicated to the macrobiotics to help myself get a better idea. Heard about Narconon Vista Bay anyone? Last edited by danial12; 10-04-2008 at 05:10 PM. |

Re: Newbie
so glad to see new people here. One of the main goals of mb is to create a balanced person who can then be free to live a Great Life - but no one EVER gets to balance, but we keep working on it. As you're practice mb longer and longer you understand more about yourself and what you need to get to balance.
For any cravings, it's good to see what's not balanced. Sugar cravings can come from alot of baked foods or from alot of salty (and sometimes kind of hidden salts such as in processed foods) - unfortunately alot of ready snacky kinds of foods that people can buy easily are of that sort - so someone new and not quite in the habit of cooking all one's foods, can be buying alot of ready "healthy" foods and then not understand why they crave sweets. but it's a mystery and have to look at as many factors as you can. Sugar is yin, so maybe someone is over yang - can come from other things than baked items and salt, could be pressure in life/work, can be doing too much, can be not enough sleep, can be the personality, so so many things - so it's a good exercise to self-contemplate and see what is going on in your life/diet/mood etc. Interesting, I always wondered how someone from India would do mb, with all the heat there - I always understood that all the hot/spicy foods was to balance the heat of the place. I've always had such a special impression about India, that the people are calm and open hearted - is that your experience there?? Klara |

Re: Newbie
I am so sorry, I was looking at mail in the forum, and I saw your post. My name is Linda and I also live in San Diego. It is nice to know somebody else here is following the same lifestyle and we live in the same area. Hopefully we can get together, and share recipes or anything. Take Care
