Aloha, Introduction

Aloha Everyone, My name is leona and I am from Hawaii. I'm new to macrobiotics and there is so much to learn. I have been researching for about 2 months. I did before about 3 years ago but didn't understand a lot of what I was reading. I'm still searching for all the foods that are exceptable. I do see some sites that say you can't eat this then another says it's ok. I hope that I will be able to expand my knowledge by being with this site.

Have patience it will all slowly start coming together with perserverance, in both your cooking/eating and in your continued learning.

Do get in touch with Leslie Ashburn . I know Hawaii is big and I've forgotten which island she's on, but she'd be a great contact for you - she's a very committed mb person, gives monthly mb dinners, has a blog and I'm sure plenty more. And if you don't live near her, she could probably put you in touch with anyone who might be.

Also look on health food stores bulletin boards, or put up your own notice that you're looking for others practicing mb.

Though Leslie Ashburn is a very active macrobiotic friend in most of our discussion groups and possibly the busiest macrobiotic teacher (in Honolulu) in the Hawai'i Islands, you do have a macrobiotic neighbor on the Big Island in Don Beckett who apparently lives in Hilo at the moment, and has been active in the macrobiotic community for more that 10 years.
