Macrobiotic cook available in Allentown PA

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, new to Allentown, not so new to macrobiotics.

I have just moved to the Allentown area from Washington State where I had a cooking business for 5 years. I've been cooking for my family of 9 and for friends for 20 years in the U.S. and Japan ever since I studied at the KI in Becket. I am available for private cooking in people's homes and I also cook delicious food for delivery to your home. I can help you get started if you've had a consultation with a macrobiotic counselor, or simply cook really delicious food for those who don't have very serious conditions but want to eat well.

Email me at cucinamaria@gmail.com or call at 610-888-9933 for more information. I'll send you a brochure and bring you a free sample meal!

Thanks!

Mary Granger

Hi Mary,

oh boy.

Maybe it's worth my thinking of moving to Allentown :>)

Family of nine and you still cook for others? - you sound like somebody I'd love to learn from!!!!

And you're offering free sample meals???!!!!! I'm amazed they're not breaking down your door!!

The very best of luck to you - there's an expression, change of location, change of luck - may you have only the best of luck in your new home.

Klara,

Thanks so much for your enthusiastic response to my post! They're not breaking down my door .... yet. http://www.cybermacro.com/ubb/smile.gif
But once I get started, there's usually a snowball effect. I look forward to that, but in the meantime I'm enjoying cooking for my family and a few friends. When you're cooking for 9 on a daily basis, what's a few more? Yup, I love cooking.

Where do you live?

Mary

Re: Macrobiotic cook available in Allentown PA

Hi again Mary,

I sure hope your family realizes how lucky they all are. How old are your kids? They also cook??

I'm afraid I live on the other side of the ocean - in Israel. Bit of a stretch to send a meal here, huh??

That's a large family you have - and there's plenty more to do than just cooking - how do you get it all organized? or is that a natural talent of yours?

Re: Macrobiotic cook available in Allentown PA

Klara,

My children are 19, 17, 15, 14, 12, 9 and 7 and some of them cook, but they'd much rather I do it! They do feel fortunate to come home from whatever they're doing to a busy kitchen, wonderful smells, and to have 3 meals a day around a table with the family. It is truly a luxury to have most of our family members (one is in college) at home for most meals, even my husband. It's not always like that and we are all appreciating this luxury while it lasts.

I am not naturally organized but have had to become somewhat so as our family has grown. There are things I don't do very well, but good food at regular times is one of my priorities so that gets done pretty well, most of the time. Regular eating and prayer as a family hold us together even under really difficult circumstances and when we weaken there, chaos ensues. There are plenty of things I don't do well and would like to do better, but cooking is my passion and it keeps my family happy!

Where in Israel do you live? I grew up overseas; Istanbul as a child, then Rome, some time in Germany, Austria and Iran. I wanted very much to go to Jerusalem when I left highschool (so many years ago!) but that never happened.

I'm supposed to be organizing our much-neglected files (one of my weak points), gotta get busy.

Mary

Mary,

OK, public confession time, I'm very jealous. I personally like what I cook, but guess I'm not whatever it takes to get my family also to love it. My husband also loves to cook and is quite creative, so the kids pretty much have followed on the meat/cheese road which he has paved for them.

You're quite a traveler, so I may still have my chance at partaking of your passion. I live in a small suburb 15 minutes outside of Jerusalem. Let me know when you're coming, I'll have a fire waiting
