new & struggling with fatigue

hello,

i am a 42 year old single mom of 2 children, ages 7 & 10. we live in New Mexico, US. i was vegetarian for 10 years and began to eat meat again during my second pregnancy because i was working a great deal and not gaining weight and did not manage to create the time to shop and cook more appropriately. i have been primarily vegetarian again since my divorce 2 years ago but developed an anal fissure and had to have surgery. had no noticeable constipation or damaging events to have caused this problem but it was horrible. i am also having autoimmune issues so here i am trying to get back to optimal health.

i am really struggling with fatigue and am not sure why. i am drinking lots of water, eating fresh greens (& fruit) daily, and taking a 20 - 30 minute walk 2x per day. i am probably at about 80%+ macro diet right now but do keep making mistakes in my food purchases and then eat them because i hate to waste the food, like yesterday i bought spinach because of the fatigue then read this am that it is a food to be avoided, bought guacamole a few days ago, etc. if you have any ideas about the fatigue, i would love to hear them.

i am in good health overall, low blood pressure and pulse (maybe not good), 5'4" and about 125 lb. i tend to run low on iron and am trying to incorporate the sea vegetables as much as possible but still learning to use them.

so glad to be here!

sb

Re: new & struggling with fatigue

Hey sb,
I'm struggling with crippling fatigue combined with inflammation (read: autoimmune) also!
I was told, to begin with, that I has MS. When I didn't have the lesions on my brain, I enjoyed the charming arteriorgram procedure. Boy do I appreciate my groin now!
I am taking a german vegetable/flower based iron supplement for mild anaemia. Evidently, you can be within even a normal range of iron in your blood, but if your body isn't metabolizing it (indicated by another part of the metabolic panel), you might as well get the fainting couch ready. I've been preparing for a week to start the macro thing tomorrow (I was traveling). Anyhow, I've been reading and hoping that between the iron supplement and dietary shock treatment I might find a little relief.

I feel you, sister.

Good luck and good chewing.
Tatjana
