Re: greetings
oops, sorry, just saw that you're from Zagreb, Croatia.

thanks for a warm welcome
Klara, the book that inspired me was Ohsawa's Zen mb. Croatia was former a part of the Yugoslavian federation, but after kommunism collapsed, Croatia wanted to leave the federation; that made the big boss of the union(Serbia) mad, and then a five year war took place which ended 1995. Geograpficly it is situated in SE Europe, east from Italy, south from Austria, it's shaped like a boot, or a dragon, look in to the map, can't miss it. And yes there are mb people here as well, a can't tell you how many but more and more I think. There are about 20 natural shops, more-less mb, but the city has about a million inhabitants, so you do the math. I my self am fine thank you for the Q Where are you from? Write somethig if you want to. |

Re: greetings
hello again,
Quite a coincidence - today you're the second post I received in my mailbox that said please write - and the funny thing is I feel I write way too much. Have you gone exploring on this site? There are loads and loads of old posts saved here, make for interesting reading and the nice thing is you can pick up old threads and respond to any of them - I haven't a clue why things are quiet right now on the site, but that doesn't take away from all the great info that's here - also blogs, recipes, articles, though you're not in the States and can't take advantage of the store, you can order the Macrobiotics Today to read on line, as well as order David Briscoe's on line courses, and there's also old chats that were fun to be on and still great reading. Then there's other macro discussion groups - sometimes active and sometimes quiet are you interested in the group in Yugoslavia - do you share the same language?? I can try to look for it if you can't find it. My sympathies for how it must have been living through the war. I live in Israel - and my home town used to be Los Angeles. I used to go home to visit my parents during the summers and when I was there, I was privileged to find a macro group that met every two weeks and was inspired to start a similar kind of group in my country locally. It went strong for about three years, we had weekly meetings with potlucks - but like all things in life, it changed and is no longer going on. It was nice getting together with other macro people and "breaking rice" together. I'm the only one eating macro in my home, presently with 2 1/2 kids at home (the half is a 25 y.o. daughter whose base is here, but often sleeps over at friends) and one daughter who comes home every now and then and eats vegetarian - so we do share food when she's here (tho one can be vegetarian and far far away from mb!!!!!!!!!) - my husband cooks for the rest of the family - the temptations to eat his food are less and less - but I do have to make sure I have food I've prepared so I don't give in to what's around. I've been macro around 12 years, had a few local teachers, and privileged to learn with some guest macro teachers that have been here. And very much enjoy it all. Klara |

Re: greetings
Warrior
Greetings! Aikido and MB are a match made in heaven. I love both and hold them as the most valuable elements in my own life. There is nothing to compare to the feeling of yin/yang coursing through your body as some one sends you flying through the air and then smoothly meeting the mat and rolling up again to stand in your own settled Ki posture. I've learned much about yin/yang by expiriencing being thrown by many different people. I think your Aikido will serve you well in your journey as a warrior, in the truest sence of its meaning. I now live in Wisconsin (again) after having lived in Los Angeles for almost 30 years. I marvel at the reality that we can relate but live in many distant corners of the world. This fact alone is grounds for hope in the future for all of us. I suspect that you were very young if you were already alive during communism and the war. War is probably the foulest thing man can impose on another, yet it seems that man enjoys it somehow, because it happens far to readily. I guess it is because, individually, people's yin/yang are so far apart. It must be easier to go to war than to take self reflection and go through the pain of becomimg a more whole person (integrated yin/yang). I can think of no better tools (MB and Ailido) for helping in this world. May your journey be deep and full-----and you become a true warrior. It is a joy and honor to great you! Manymoons |

Re: greetings
Klara, Manymoons,
Hi, once again, First I have to thank you Klara for your time and E, and if I got it right suggest that you don't answer to this post(take a rest). And one other thing-I didn't go trough the war-I was in Germany, but was only 7 y.o. when it was over; it is I who must send simphaty to you regarding the state in Israel. And I must say that I am very interested in hearing the poinion of the Jews on this matter. And to you Manymoons, I must express my joy to find someone who trains Aikido on a mb site(I got the feeling you are not the only one). Can you tell me on which rung are you, who is your head master, what is your association called(I know Ueshiba didn't intend for questions like these to take place, but...). I am a part of the Takemusu association, led before by Saito Sensei, and now by Paolo Corellini and Ulf Evenas. Keep up the good work everybody, especialy you Americans, whom we all depend all, bye. |

"One gieshi mas!" May we learn together! My study of Aikido began in 1974 at Los Ageles Aiki Kai, which was the first dojo on the mainland of the USA. It's program continues to be based on Sensei Tohie's (who later formed the Ki Society). I consider Saito Sensei as the best and had the privilegde of attending several semiars with him in person in LA. At the present time, I live in rural Wisconsin. The nearest dojo is 90 miles (144 kilometers) from where I live, which prohibits my regular attendance. I 'KI' train regulaly by myself, as well as do Kata with sword and Jo. The only time I get to work with a partner is on construction job sites when a young impetuous worker needs to be lovingly reminded that the "old man" is not to be discounted. It always gets their attention as well as respect. Jobs on which I work and/or superintend, do seem to run more harmoniously than most, while everone has more fun doing it. Sometimes it is necessary to speak in a language that they understand when none other is understood. No one ever fails to smile after our little 'conversations'. It is amazing what can be accomplished, enjoyably, when egos are, lovingly and sensitively held in check. I have not studied environmental science, but am interested in phyto remediation and try to incorperate it as often as possible. Storm water run-off control is common practice here now. Black water treatment is a focus of special interest to me. I would prefer to have a 'solar black water treatment green house' than the present septic system I now use. Let plants and bacteria transmute waste into new and clean life; vegetables, flowers and fish. If you have information about this I would be interested and indepted to hear about it. Gratefully and supportively, Manymoons |
