Wink Hello from Chicago-ish

Hello! I've started my mb journey.....again. Well when I tell peeps around here that I practice Macrobiotics, I get a really strange look. So now when asked, I just say I eat grains, veggies, beans and some fruit. Then I don't get that look. LOL

I'm a cancer survivor and I'm dealing with Hashimoto disease. It's an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the thyroid. Was just Dx on August 1st. And there's the motivation for getting serious about my health.

If anyone knows of a MB community in the Chicago area, please let me know. Chicago is a big town and sometimes information can be hard to find.

I'm loving this site, and I've only just got started.

Denise

Denise,

In case you don't know, here is a person who has dealt with Hashimoto Disease and survived!

I don't know where the macrobiotic community is in Chicago.

The strategy that I employ in finding macrobiotic communities when visiting places for the first time is by visiting restaurants and stores and checking out their bulletin boards.

I just discovered that Chicago has an excellent restauraunt called The Chicago Diner and they both have macrobiotic food on their menu and also a bulletin board where you can find or post notices.

Another method in finding macrobiotic community in any particular place is to create one and here are some examples of online communities created:

Boston Macrobiotic Dinner Club

Portland Oregon Macrobiotic Meetup

Honolulu Macrobiotic Meetup

The OC Macros Potluck Dinner Club which used to be a macrobiotic meetup!

And one other resource and sometimes the first one to go to is a local macrobiotic counselor like Karla Walter.

When you find or start a macrobiotic community in Chicago, please let us know.

Thank you, very much.

Please get and be well.
