Back in the saddle w/the ten day rice plan

Its been a long time since I've practiced marcrobiotics but it looks like I have a New Years reso this year. To get back into macrobiotics starting Jan 1 (tomorrow) with the ten day rice diet.
Briefly (yeh sure..lol)..I'm a 54 year old male on Long Island in New York. A carp..I do renovations and restoration work so I'm pretty active.
I absused alcohol for far too long and decieded this past May (Fri the 13th of all daze) to go to Antigua and check myself into Eric Claptons place. "The Crossroads"..where I went through 30 days of some great rehab that included lots of Yoga, massage,,therepy and fresh foods and clean air etc etc.
I took away from there what works for me and left the rest behind. This is how I intend to do my macro diet. I need to listen to my body and spirit with true honesty.
I have spent one week each year with Ram Dass in chant and meditation and discussion.
I have studied Aikido as well but also let that fall to the wayside.
I decieded in my "recovery" to use what I call The TAP program. (The Andy Program). Continue my addictive behavior for now except replace my negative addictions with the positive ones. All I've learned in my 54 years.
Continue my meditation practice. Get back into macrobiotics. This is for starters. I don't want to set more goals than I can accomplish at any given moment in time.
I've stopped the use of all alcohol. For some reason it was easy...probably because I knew I was slipping away. I knew it..I felt it and I experianced it...Then I became honest with dealing with it for the first time. We learn and gain character is my feeling. I do take things to their extreme, hence doing macrobiotics. A great source I remembered to help aleviate that. To become more in balance.
I feel as though I need to initiate myself back into the macro world with a fast. The ten day rice plan seems to be a way to do that. I've bought some used books from Amazon a week ago. I'm hoping "You Are All Sanpaku" might help me along with this diet. I also see in the Dec edition of George Oshawa's bi monthly paper there is an article on the ten day rice thing so I may subscribe on line in order to read it right away.

Any info or other experiances would go appreciated. I've heard very positive things as well as horror stories.
As for me, I'll try and be more moderatly extreme...lol. Maybe the word extreme should be replaced with "passionate" in mind and in practice...hmmm.
Nice to introduce myself to you all.
Be well
Namaste'
andy
