And they put up a fight over one veggie...

I have two boys ages five and two and a non-veggie eating husband. I am new to macrobiotics but when I become better and more experienced, I would like to maybe start cooking macrobiotic family meals. I am not sure if this will even be possible and I have already told myself if it is not and my family won't eat macrobiotic meals, then life will have to go on. My two boys dislike veggies so much it is like a battle to just get them to eat a piece of cooked carrot! My husband will eat some veggies but not too many because he doesn't enjoy them, but luckily does not pass views on the kids. Actually I am suspecting I will have problems with the whole macrobiotic meals, so I was wondering if any of you have tried this with your family and got any positive results? Any ideas on how I could be successful with this, or should I only try maybe incorporating a thing here and there into meals? Maybe I should not try at all? because this is a choice that individuals should make on their own? Any thoughts?

Lil Miz Cheezcake,

Get one or more copies of these macrobiotic cookbooks:

Upbeat Macrobiotic Cooking for Family and Friends (In 12 Complete Cooklets)
by Melanie Brown-Waxman

Mr Hoppity's Color Me Cookbook for Kids by Melanie Brown-Waxman

Feeding the Whole Family: Whole Foods Recipes for Babies, Young Children and Their Parents By Cynthia Lair

Getting people who love eating standard fare foods to change can sometimes be difficult but it's not impossible and with small children it's often easier.

Please enjoy the adventure.

Thank you, very much.

its hard to jump into veggies right away if youre not used to them. maybe first try to make some fun macrobiotic recipes like desserts , legumes and home baked bread with your kids and husband and they'll start re-adjusting to a healthier lifestyle and catch on to some veggies. it always takes a little time to let things sink in. i hope things go well!

Hi there Im new here but just had to add, I had this problem so I would cook them dinner and then myself then I would sit down and eat mine with them, after a few nights they started asking why i was eating diffrent food I told them it was nicer than what they were eating, they soon decided to try sme and noware eating most of their meals the same as mine, might work for you depending on how the kids are.
