Daikon hip baths...
I endevor to aquire some dried daikon leaves and take as many hip baths as needed to 'disolve' my uterine fibroid.
Q: Will it really work? Q: And how long should I continue with them, until I have an exam or ultrasound? Q: Do I do them everyday? Thanks for any insight you can lend. |

Re: Daikon hip baths...
Teri,
There is a Kushi book on Natural Healing available at Amazon.com or the older version is usually available through your local library. Although you may have to get it on inter-library loan. I have cystic ovaries and irregular periods, so I too, was interested in the Daikon Hip Bath. According to the copy I have from the book, the bath is as follows Dried Daikon Leaves, used to warm the body and to treat various disorders of the skin and female sexual organs. Also helpful in drawing odors and excessive oils from the body. Dry fresh daikon leaves in the house, away from direct sunlight, until they turn brown and brittle. (If daikon leaves are unabailable, turnip greens cdan be substituted.) Boil 4-5 bunches of the leaves in 4-5 quarts of water until the water turns brown. stir in a handful of sea salt and use in one of the following ways 1. Dip cotton linen into the hot liquid and wring lightly. apply to affected area repeatedly, until the skin becomes completely red.. 2. Soak in a hot bath in which this mixture has been added. 3. Women experiencing problems in the sexual organs should sit in the bath described above with the water at waist level, the upper portion of the body covered with a towel. Remain in water until the whole body becomes warm and sweating begins. This generally takes about ten minutes. Repeat as needed, up to ten days. 4. Strain the liquid and use as a douche to elminate mucus and fat accumulations in the uterine and vaginal regions. This douche can be used after the hot bath described above or by itself. Now my story . . . I am a big skeptic of the natural healing stuff. . . However, when I went to the doctor, I had not had my period in about six months. Very normal for me with my ovaries, but the doc wanted to put me on meds if the periods did not start again. I was not going to take any meds, so I told the doc that I would wait and see if they started again. The last time I waited over a year and had no period and ended up on meds. This time I thought, Ok, try the natural thing. So I went to Whole Foods grocery store and talked to the vegtable manager. I asked if they had any tops to the daikon radishes left in the back. He brought met back a whole bag full and mentioned people request them when they want to cure uterine cancer. Well, I told him I was lucky enough not to have that problem. I dried them on top of my refrigerator, on top of a clean cotton towel and covered with a clean cotton towel. When dried, I prepared them as directed in the water and put almost the whole batch into the tub with hot water. I took the bath as directed. Afterward, I douched with the last bit of the cooled liquid. When I was done, I thought, I am really nuts! A few days later no period, a week later no period. About ten days later, a huge period! That night I looked up in the sky and the moon was full. I could not believe it. I had read in the book that when your period is in balance it comes on during the full moon. I had not been paying attention to the cycle of the moon at all. I could not believe it really worked. I have had a period ever since over a year later from my single treatment. Also, if I have absolutely no sugar in my diet, I literally have no cramping, nothing. It is so strange. When I mess up and eat sugar, I pay for it during my period. Please consider getting the Natural remedy book by the kushi's. It gives greater detail about treating uterine cycts. Cindy |

Re: Daikon hip baths...
Well, you could do the bath daily for 10 days in a row, while not being on your period. Never do this on your period. Or you could do the bath 3x/week for 3 weeks. It does work. I've done it many times, and I have a history of fibroids. Baked flour is the worst thing to put into the body. Anything baked goes right down to the uterus and hangs there, so avoiding those things helps, and/or do a daikon hip bath 1-2x/month regularly for awhile helps.
Take a handful of dried daikon leaves or hiba as they are called, if none available, you may use a handful of arame, or even just plain old sea salt. Boil the hiba for about 45 minutes. Near the last 20 minutes of the end of the simmering, add a big handful of sea salt -- not your good cooking salt, just bulk bin stuff. Strain the liquid. Pour the strained water in a hot tub. Soak your lower body only: it's best to have just your derriere in the water, don't have the water go up to your kidney level, that's very weakening. It's usually best to concentrate the liquid in a tub such as you might buy to store goods in that you can purchase at a home department store. I've even seen a round beer keg type of tub used. In other words, just soak what needs to be soaked, not the entire body. I use a storage tube, and my legs stick out the side. It's somewhat uncomfortable, but it's not for very long. I put the storage tub in the bathtub and sit there. Soak for 20-30 minutes. You'll notice your abdomen getting pinkish-red. Cover yourself all over, even your head, leaving your nose out to breathe while you do this with a beach towel. You'll sweat. Next, douche with warm twig tea, sometimes adding in a little squeeze of lemon juice to the douche, or even a dash of vinegar. Then, immediately, wash off, dry, and lie down immediately. Do absolutely nothing afterward for at least an hour or so. Best to do this at night, and not on a full stomach. Sometimes, during the douche, you'll even see some mucous or other material coming out, as this is a powerful remedy. We women are fortunate to be able to have this remedy and to be able to cleanse like this after a period, because it helps us discharge the toxins of a month of not-so-great eating. Benefits: reduction of stagnations in the uterine cavity, therefore better health in the reproductive organs, a better sex life, and interestingly, a better complexion! You'll see... Have at it! |

Re: Daikon hip baths...
Hi. I keep reading about the hip bath helping the skin. I have acne flare ups a few days before my period. I have been battling cystic acne for over 12 years (I'm over 40 so it should have stopped by now) and have had great success with going macro because I would flair up all the time, not just coinciding with my period.
Can someone please explain how the hip bath will help my skin? My cycle is fairly regular (28-30 days right around a full moon), and I have no other female organ problems. Thanks, Leenie |

Re: Daikon hip baths...
Dear Leenie,
Why does the complexion clear up, too? Well, there are many schools of thought on that. 1) Daikon. If daikon is used, its property is to cancel out or get rid of fat-type of stagnations. Acne is just fat. You may even try applying daikon directly to your face! Slice a very thin slice of the raw daikon root and apply on blemishes with strategic bandaids overnight for several days. Even try this with warts. 2) Yin and yang. Acne is fat, and is yin (expansive) compared to a yang (contractive) item such as the root of daikon or its dried (yang) leaves, or salty, deepwater vegetable such as arame, or just salt. The yin of acne fat is canceled by the yang of any of these yang items: root of daikon, dried leaves of daikon, sea veg arame, or salt. 3) Skin 1. The skin acts like a third kidney, expelling toxins for us. The uterine area is part of that system -- the KD/BL or kidney/bladder/reproductive system. So when you clean one, you clean all! When you take a daikon hip bath, you are cleaning up the kidney/bladder/reproductive system. And since the skin acts like a third kidney, it benefits as well. 4) Skin 2. This idea takes more consideration. The skin is also thought of as an extension of the lungs and even remotely, the alimentary canal. Think about it: your nose is open, breathing back and forth, and if you open your mouth to breathe (and eat), you also take in air (and food). So whatever goes in, must go out. For example, fats have been eaten in the past, and perhaps in the last 1-3 months. They must come out. So one can choose to do many things to draw them out: either with direct compresses (the daikon slices), or by eating well (grate a tablespoon of raw daikon root with oil sautes, tempura, fish, oily foods), or by daikon hip baths. Why do the hip baths work here? Two reasons: One, Daikon & LU/LI: daikon is related to the LU/LI or lung/large intestine/brain area, and the large intestine gets a little bath, too, when you do a daikon hip bath, because it's located down there next to the uterus. So other areas benefit from that bath, such as the lungs, brain, and as an extension of the lungs -- the skin. Two, yin/yang: the top of the body, where acne is usually located, is considered more yin than the lower part of the body. When you want to stop the yin of acne (it's fat, and it's on top of body), you apply yang (dried daikon leaves or arame, or salt), to lower part of body (yang). It "pulls" the yin downward and helps to eliminate it properly through the bloodstream. Many benefits, seen many ways. Try some of these remedies and see which work best for you. Warmly, |

Re: Daikon hip baths...
Thank you so much for you suggestions. I've been trying the daikon on any flare ups I get and am finding that it does reduce the swelling and tenderness. I am presently drying some daikon leaves for a hip bath.
Many thanks, Leenie |

Re: Daikon hip baths...
sorry....... I just had to correct a little tidbit there. yin is contracting and cold by nature and it has a tendency to sink; hence the lower part of the body is considered yin in relation to the upper parts. (yang is expansive, metabolic, transforming and rises)
Daikon in oriental medicine helps aid digestion, break up stagnant "phlegm" or mucus deposits, and moves the blood, or 'activates' blood circulation. The concept of phlem includes fatty deposits in the skin and also within the body. the health of the digestive sytem is often reflected in the complexion because the skin helps the body vent or excrete whatever it is unable to through the bowels. The intestines have a protective mucus layer which in a healthy normal system should constantly be renewing itself. If it doesnt have that happening, or you eat many foods which are too mucus forming the mucus lining will become thicker and denser, forming a sort of plaque against the intestinal wall. This is both inhibiting absorbtion and creating a great atmosphere for all kinds of pathogens such as fungus and bacteria to thrive in. Hence breaking up stagnant food/ mucus in the intestines would be benefical as a whole to the body. In oriental medicine, fibroids/ cysts are often seen as being caused by conditons of 'excessive dampness or phlegm in the lower abdomen' and 'stagnant blood' daikon addresses both of these issues and is therefore seen as very usefull for these types of issues. Its a good idea to incorporate them into your diet, as well as using it in the "hip bath". Regards!! |
