umboshi paste/plums
My daughter in college has requested some umboshi paste/plums. I keep my paste in the fridge after I open it. Do they need to be refrigerated or can they just be kept at room temp? Can the plums be kept at room temp? I do not think she has access to a fridge and cannot have one in her dorm room.
Many thanks, Leenie |

Leenie,
One of the many functions of umeboshi plums and paste is that of a natural preservative because of the salt content! A bigger concern is that plums nor paste dries out so if the umeboshi is kept away from sunlight and heat or too much venhilation, then it should be fine. Does that answer your questions, sufficiently? Thank you, very much. Be well, Bruce Paine |
