Problems with Hemp protein powder
I just bought Nutiva's Organic Hemp protein powder which I mixed with Barleans greens and apple juice.
I thought I had created the world's perfect breakfast smoothie: 14g of Fiber, 13 protein, 19g carbs (plus apple juice) a ton of vitamins, fatty acids, etc. etc. I drank my shake for 3 days for breakfast. Both days I felt exhausted, I had a huge headache, and could not think straight. This is my first experience with Hemp protein and am confused as to whether I am detoxing thus having effects of "body cleaning" or if hemp causes negative reactions in some. Does anyone have any info on Hemp protein, or barlean's greens etc? Any similar experiences? Am I doing something wrong??? Thanks for your help. |

Re: Problems with Hemp protein powder
Interesting that I happened upon your post: today I just bought my first jar of hemp protein powder. This is just an opinion, but it sounds to me as if it is the Barlean's Greens that might be having a strong cleaning effect on you. It does contain chlorella, which is said to mobilize mercury out of your tissues and into your bloodstream. If your body isn't running optimally, maybe the mobilized mercury, instead of being excreted, is going round and round in your bloodstream, looking for other spots to re-settle.
This is just grist for the mill. I would try taking the hemp powder without the greens for a week and see what happens. Good luck to you. I am starting my hemp powder tomorrow for breakfast without any concentrated green powders. I might juice some greens, though, and add a bit to the hemp powder and water. Personally, I don't think that these concentrated powders are necessarily the best thing for everyone. |

Re: Problems with Hemp protein powder
yeah, odds are your body is going "at last!" and all the toxins it has been holding at bay are flushing out of their holding places. in which case, you're probably feeling fine now. hemp protein will definitely clean you out, on its own strength. i'd go with half the amount of each, hemp and barlean's.

What do you think, consuming a smoothies for central food is yin or yang?
Do you think in terms of yin and yang? Since this discussion website is called Cybermacro that suggests that macrobiotics is the basis of conversation here. Do you know what macrobiotics is? What do you think, macrobiotics means "eat healthy"? Or macrobiotics means "eating a balanced diet"? If eating a balanced diet is closer to the definition of macrobiotics, what is eating a balanced diet and how do we achieve balance macrobiotically? Now someone who just posted here at this thread please respond to me (not Klara). Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |
