help for dog with liver disease
Hi, can anyone guide me regarding using macrobiotics to help my 8yo dog. I adopted her last winter and she has an auto immune disease and they had to put her on steroids this spring which are damaging her liver. I use Dr Ralston's book as a basic feeding guide but wondering if there are some dietary additions to support the liver. I am using burdock root crushed with other veggies daily and I bought some milk thistle herb. She deserves to live now that she has a furever home. Once they get the inflammation in her body down that the auto immune disease caused then they will be lowering the prednisone. Unfortunately even attempts by our holistic vet to help her naturally failed and it was either let her go or try the medical route. Thanks for any input

Brit,
Where are you located? As far as I can tell, there are no macrobiotic vets here nor any macrobiotic practioners but since dogs (and cats) as mammals share many characteristics as humans, many of the foods and treatments applicable to humans are also applicable to these pets. Find a nearby macrobiotic counselor or find one online and maybe you can get the specific help and answers that you need! Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |
