Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, how much can MB help??

Hello everyone,

I am new to this site and would appreciate your feedback.
My mother was diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis (non alcohol related cirrhosis of the liver) 3 years ago, and is currently taking Ursofalk. She had been making an effort to control her disease following a strict vegetarian diet. I told her a couple of years ago about Macrobiotics, got her a book and some basic foods, but because she found very little info on how much Macrobiotics can help for her specific disease, as well as difficulty in obtaining products and meal planning, she gave up rather quickly. Is there information out there on PBC, what foods/regime would benefit her and what she can realistically expect? (she has already shown jaundice, and has had occasional nasal hemmorages).

Thanks for your help!!
