Stay Flexible!
Hi Jord. Try to remain flexible when transitioning to macrobiotics from the standard American diet (SAD) so that your body can better adjust and assimilate the coarse, unrefined, macrobiotic fare. Far too many people dood heed this advice and become fanatical over food tot he point that it takes control of their lives.
Read as much as you can from a variety of sources and find someone locally that teaches macrobiotic cooking. Avoid extremes when possible, in all situations, and try not to take the approach that macrobiotics can cure all diseases (especially in ten days): a modern myth. Macrobiotics means both long and wide life, so please keep all doors open and get into it slowly -- keep
your food choices varied and follow both your gut feelings and the calling of nature and its ever changing seasons and other nuances.
There are a lot of good questions and answers that have been posted here at cybermacro from macrobiotic newcomers (as well as the oldies) that have ben archived under the Old Posts section on the home page (bottom left). Check that out to get the gist of how varied ideas about macrobiotic are.
I hope this helps.
In peace, Roy
