Re: New and in a bad mood

Change is VERY hard, and especially with beloved foods. Go at it slowly, try increasing more the new foods and don't force yourself to go cold turkey (pun intended) on old food if it makes you miserable. Maybe just cut portion size of old foods, maybe have it less often - do you have cookbooks or a teacher?? how are you learning?? having a great teacher and tasting some of the incredible delights of mb helps you go forward with more joy. I remember when I first started I so looked forward to the weekly cooking classes to find out what new foods I would discover that week.

It's true, the great feelings that come with the healthier foods might come about slower if you continue to eat the old foods, but if you go slow, you're not as likely to crash and give the whole thing up.

Also if it's snacking you're missing, look for recipes for special snacks - tho I don't care for it now, I do remember at the beginning trying to find a more healthy substitute for foods I'd loved - so at the beginning I used to make lots of creamy desserts from tofu - I don't do that anymore, I'd rather make a coffee mouse (kanten with coffee substitute) or an apple cobbler - the trick is to find foods you love, and there are plenty there.

I remember at the beginning my teacher had suggested I take equal parts tehina and rice syrup and spread it on rice cakes - I wouldn't do that now, but oh how I loved it back then - was quick and I'd thought a great snack (now I try to be more careful of not having too much tehina because of the fat)

Now one of my absolute favorite snacks is just to munch on toasted seeds.

Don't give up - there really are amazing foods - just start looking (oh yes, while in the States I was totally in love with amasake - unfortunately where I live, it's not as available, I have to make it)

Enjoy.
