I'm new to macrobiotics, I've been trying to follow the diet for about a month, so I have a couple of questions.

First of all I'd like to know how often can I eat fruit. I used to eat a lot of fruit every day, since i really LOVE it. I have already cut out tropical fruit but is it ok to eat local fruit every other day and how much?

I was also wondering, since we're allowed to eat fish 1-3 times a week, what about eating
shrimps, cuttlefish, calamari and similar foods?

My last question is what is the best thing to eat for breakfast? I used to eat fruit every morning so I feel a little lost now. I've also heard that soy milk isn't really good is that
true?

Thank you for your answers
Eka

P.S. I tried to register but I wasn't able to post because I didn't recieve the email to activate my account what can I do about that?
First of all, Eka, there are no rules, no thou shall or thou shall nots!

No body is going to punish you if you eat anything: fruit, fish, meat dairy, sugar, etc.

It's all about balance!

If you eat too yang you will be attracted to strong yin and the reverse is true.

There are macros who eat fruit for breakfast and if that floats your boat, more power to you!

There are other macros who eat animal foods for breakfast, but my guess is that most macros have whole grains maybe cooked softly for breakfast and maybe some like a sweet vegetable soup like pumpkin or squash.

If you are a person who follows religious dietary laws like Jews or Muslims, then you'll probably want to avoid shellfish, and remember that some shellfish like shrimp, clams, scallops, and mussels can more yang than fish and white fish is more yin than dark oily fish, so if you want a simpler balance consider white fish like haddock or cod and start out simple, maybe once a week and see how you feel.

If you feel like eating it more often, then eat it more often.

You make your rules and change them if and when you need to!

Does this make any sense to you?

Check out my macrobiotic book poll and after you join, vote (if you wish) to let us know what macrobiotic books you have in your home library.

I can make better specific recommendations like recipes or what to read if I know what books you have!

Thank you, very much.
