I don't have much time at the moment but I did a quick search on miso making kits and have not found any and if you think about it, maybe there is not very much demand for those kits, right now.
So a place to start is

Wild Fermentation: The Flavor, Nutrition, and Craft of Live-Culture Foods by Sandor Ellix Katz, does have a good little section on miso making, including making Red and Sweet misos.
