Care of the Liver

Practicing this diet and learning some of the philosephy behind it has really gotten me interested in other philosephies of health and how they relate to macro. I have not been suprised to learn that many of the practices in western philosephy and medicine preach soem of the same doctrines. One obvious well know example of this is a diet rci in natural and whole foods helps prevent and even reverse some illnesses and cancers.
I did come across somethings that have puzzled me though. I was reading about condittions of the liver and it is believed that there is no known cure for serious liver disfunction, particularly if it is a condittion of a weak liver. The only known cure for such a problem in western ideology and findings is accupuncture and a herb called milk thistle. Is this true? QAre there soem condittiosn that can not be cured by diet alone if at all? I have read of others but this one has stuck out in my mind the most right now. What does anyone know of this?
