Roy Collins is on a distinguished road
Hi Stephanie. I think I wrote a few responses to questions
on osteoporous here at cybermacro. You might want to
search through the back lists. The major
reason for this problem is inability of body to take up and
utilize botanical calcium. One method is to make your
own cultured soy along with eating more fresh greens, seaweeds and small whole fish. Another is to eat a varied diet and to
exercise more.

I think some older macrobiotics have this problem because
diet is too strict and there is too much salted cooked food and
enzymes are destroyed in the intestinal tract so absorption
of nutrienbts is not complete. CUltured soy contains L. acidopholus, Xanthum gum and aspergillus bacterias that
increase amount of good bacteria in the gut. I think there may still be up an article I wrote on Macro Milk Shakes that expalins this process a little better. Check around a bit more. There is also a product made from heated oyster shells that works much the same way as cultured soy, invented by a Japanese scientist.
I wrote about this as well in one of the old posts. If I had more time to help with the sarch I would but lately I have been overwhelmed with work. Sorry.

In peace, Roy
