Hi Sara. With Type II diabetes you have a very high chance of
full recovery using the standard macrobiotic diet with specific
instructions. I believe there are a few posts on this subject in
the old post section here. What is important here is that you
discontinue the use of all simple carbohydrates and replace them with complex carbs (whole grains), veggies from land and sea, local, seasonal fruit (preferabley cooked) a small amount of beans and sea food. Eat small portions, exercise moderately. No drugs, refined or concentrated sugars. No artificial sweeteners (like Equal). Use kukica twig tea, grain coffeee substitute and eat/drink a good amount of parsley in the diet. Hot ginger compresses can be used on feet and legs to help with circulation problem. Unlike Type I Diabetes your pancreas is secreting the insulin hormone, just at varying rates. Macro will help to normalize this rate. You need to read more on macro and find someone who is teaching macro cooking classes. You ask the teacher about more specific foods for Type II. I hope this
helps.
In peace, Roy
