I was Googling "Daylight Saving Time" the other day because although its been over five decades I still never remember exactly when it is. While doing that I learned one good think George Bush did for me (believe it or not). HE pushed DST ahead a week which started this year. As a builder (
WWW.CLIFFORDRENOVATIONS.COM) currently working outside trying to finish up my Goose Hill Project the extra week of added/continued daylight sure will help.
Its this time of year when the eather is getting colder and the leaves are turning that I feel my whole being changing over in cycle. My mind starts reeling and looking consciously and unconsciously for change. It was last year around this time that I decieded to add to my good habits while removing some of my bad ones. In the removal department I stopped the use of all alcohol. In the adding department I added macrobiotics. I figured Jan 1 would be a great time to start MB...so I did. Sooooooooo...its coming up on a year in another two months. I started with the ten day BR cleansing and that turned into 14 days.
Since then I've dropped about 35 pounds without even trying...one of the perks I
suppose : ) so now I'm down to my normal weight of 160.
I suppose the most difficult part for me is "having" to cook after working hard all day. There's very little I can just pop in my mouth atthe end of the day like I used to be able to do. Premade foods. There ain't too many macro pre made dinners...not for a reasonable cost anyway. I tend to do my usual BR and veggies and miso soups and make enough for two days.
Going out to eat is virtually impossible around here on Long Island other than maybe a good Chinese reastaurant I have nearby. Thats OK though. It is what it is and I'm still much happier by far living as a macro than I was before on a "normal" diet...lol....what ever that means...hey, you know what I mean.
My wife hates anything I cook so its just me I cook for. She likes garbage foods and I'm not one to try and convert anyone. Its either learn by example...or not. She'll probably out live me anyway...lol....but thats not what its all about. Eventually we will all move on and its what we as individuals feel and do that makes us who we are and I'm very happy ahout who I am today. Macrobiotics has added a discipline in my world that translates into everything I do as does my building.
Standing above myself in my meditations I can view myself more clearly than ever before. Its very much what I set out to do in the early sixties with the use of hullucinigons along side Leary and Ram Dass. Its "using" the tools rather than letting the tools use me. Keeping a sharp edge on those tools in an orderly fashion yet having FUN with iit all!! Keeping my sense of humor in all that I do is A #1...to me anyway.
I suppose I could complain that there arent enough restaurants I can go out to around me or that I don't have this or that but that doesn't inspire growth...what it inspires is negatiivity and that can translate into all that I might do ...hence...feeling the good in everything...even the things that may be unpleasant because in that is a balance. An important word I encourage myself with is "impermanance". It makes for more understanding within me.
So with this change of season I feel as though a need for a cleansing again. Maybe before my favorite holiday...Thanksgiving. The "only" holiday I celebrate. I think starting on Daylight Saving Time I'll start my 10/14 day BR cleansing...There..I announced it : )
Namaste' y'all
