I think we all go through that phase of "we've discovered IT, why can't the rest of the world see IT??" and then make attempts to influence our friends and family, and yes, even strangers. And then try to restrain ourselves when we see it doesn't work so easily.

Some of us end up working in the field, and influencing SOME people to different degrees.

But I think the most important thing is not to worry about others, as spending your energies on trying to change others can deplete your own energies. The most important thing is to continue developing on your own path. No one else can do it for you, just as you can't do it for others. But it is lovely to find others who share your joy - much better to be just focused on the positive, if you can.
