I don't know where the macrobiotic community is in Chicago.
The strategy that I employ in finding macrobiotic communities when visiting places for the first time is by visiting restaurants and stores and checking out their bulletin boards.
I just discovered that Chicago has an excellent restauraunt called
The Chicago Diner and they both have macrobiotic food on their menu and also a bulletin board where you can find or post notices.
Another method in finding macrobiotic community in any particular place is to create one and here are some examples of online communities created:

Portland Oregon Macrobiotic Meetup
Honolulu Macrobiotic Meetup
The
OC Macros Potluck Dinner Club which used to be a macrobiotic meetup!
And one other resource and sometimes the first one to go to is a local macrobiotic counselor like
Karla Walter.
