Roy,
Have you ever considered "Mindful based stress reduction" to be used in the healing of psoriasis and many other dis-eases? In other words "meditation"!
This may sound like quackery to some but to me and many others this is very real. As a meditator of many years I recognize the power of meditation and its superior healing qualities. There is actual scientific proof of this to a very large degree. The people willing to do these studies are small but those that have have come up with incredable results.
Just recently I spent three days with Jon Kabat-Zinn upstate NY at Omega Institude For Holistic Learning. He discused psoriasis to some degree using it as just one example as to the power of meditation and mindful living especially under extreme stress related conditions thatsome people live under. This was the first thing I thought of regarding your posts to this woman. She's a perfect example. I'd like you and others to look deeper into this on your own as there are volumes you can read on this very subject. I'd recommend you all read/Google "jon Kabbat-Zinn".
Here's one paragraph you may find interesting:
"In 1993, Jon Kabat-Zinn’s work in the Stress Reduction Clinic was featured in Bill Moyers' PBS Special, Healing and the Mind and in the book by Moyers of the same title. Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues published a research paper demonstrating in a small clinical trial, a four-fold effect of the mind on the rate of skin clearing in patients with psoriasis undergoing ultraviolet light therapy: [Kabat-Zinn et al, Psychosomatic Medicine 60:625-623 (1998)]. A more recent paper [Davidson, Kabat-Zinn, et al. Psychosomatic Medicine 65: 564-570 (2003)] shows positive changes in brain activity, emotional processing under stress, and immune function in people taking an MBSR course in a corporate work setting in a randomized clinical trial."
JKZ and his colleagues are doing research as we speak in MBSR...aka meditation.
Its incredably interesting and we spoke and practiced different techniques all weekend. I was in shock (for a lack of better choice of words)at the power of meditation. More than I ever realized. I know whats its done for me over the years. I can speak more about it if anyone wants. It had dramatic results/cure for me during a long ferocious bout with severe alcoholism. As I said, I've practiced meditationfor some quite time religously.
BE well!
Namaste'
