I recommend water filters but as far as contaminants are concerned, distilled water is the purest water one can find.
Concerned there are no nutrients? Here's several options. Squeeze a little lemon or lime into your glass of water, it is great for flushing your liver. Or, take a spoon of brown rice (white rice is worthless) or a handful of almonds , let them soak in a gallon of distilled water.
Distilled water can only bind with inorganic minerals like the calcium found in extremely hard water or the calcium in all the "enriched" foods. It's also been known to dissolve inorganic calcium deposits causing painful arthritis.
I think the main disadvantage is that distilled water takes a lot of energy to produce, filters cost much less in the long run. However, holistic and natural doctors suggest distilled water for any type of detox or cleansing program. I am assuming that the cleaner water is, the cleaner it is going to get you. Water is a universal solvent.
