Proportion of foods

Someone recently posted about calculating the proportion of foods through the calories. I can't find the post so I thought I would reply here.
According to my understanding the percentages recommended in a standard macro eating plan which needs to be adjusted to suit individual needs is based on the volume of food - not the calories. So if you were eating 2-3 cups of food at one time (the stomach does not really like more than that at once though I am still having trouble hearing it voice that opinion!) you would factor about half that as whole grain - with adjustments for the individual and the circumstances. And each meal does not have to be in the perfect proportions - it evens out over the course of a day or few days. Sometimes you feel like more of a certain food, sometimes less. Be flexible! And enjoy each mouthful. Taste it, savour it!
If you want to be more in tune with it, just alternate every other bite of veggies or legume etc with a spoonful of grain. That makes for great digestion and assimilation too.
Eating in a more or less ordely way from the most concentrates - grains, legumes, roots to the more expanded foots - leaves, salad etc also helps!

bon appetit!
