Re: Daikon hip baths...

Teri,

There is a Kushi book on Natural Healing available at Amazon.com or the older version is usually available through your local library. Although you may have to get it on inter-library loan.

I have cystic ovaries and irregular periods, so I too, was interested in the Daikon Hip Bath. According to the copy I have from the book, the bath is as follows

Dried Daikon Leaves, used to warm the body and to treat various disorders of the skin and female sexual organs. Also helpful in drawing odors and excessive oils from the body. Dry fresh daikon leaves in the house, away from direct sunlight, until they turn brown and brittle. (If daikon leaves are unabailable, turnip greens cdan be substituted.) Boil 4-5 bunches of the leaves in 4-5 quarts of water until the water turns brown. stir in a handful of sea salt and use in one of the following ways
1. Dip cotton linen into the hot liquid and wring lightly. apply to affected area repeatedly, until the skin becomes completely red..
2. Soak in a hot bath in which this mixture has been added.
3. Women experiencing problems in the sexual organs should sit in the bath described above with the water at waist level, the upper portion of the body covered with a towel. Remain in water until the whole body becomes warm and sweating begins. This generally takes about ten minutes. Repeat as needed, up to ten days.
4. Strain the liquid and use as a douche to elminate mucus and fat accumulations in the uterine and vaginal regions. This douche can be used after the hot bath described above or by itself.

Now my story . . . I am a big skeptic of the natural healing stuff. . . However, when I went to the doctor, I had not had my period in about six months. Very normal for me with my ovaries, but the doc wanted to put me on meds if the periods did not start again. I was not going to take any meds, so I told the doc that I would wait and see if they started again. The last time I waited over a year and had no period and ended up on meds. This time I thought, Ok, try the natural thing.

So I went to Whole Foods grocery store and talked to the vegtable manager. I asked if they had any tops to the daikon radishes left in the back. He brought met back a whole bag full and mentioned people request them when they want to cure uterine cancer. Well, I told him I was lucky enough not to have that problem.

I dried them on top of my refrigerator, on top of a clean cotton towel and covered with a clean cotton towel. When dried, I prepared them as directed in the water and put almost the whole batch into the tub with hot water. I took the bath as directed. Afterward, I douched with the last bit of the cooled liquid.

When I was done, I thought, I am really nuts! A few days later no period, a week later no period. About ten days later, a huge period! That night I looked up in the sky and the moon was full. I could not believe it. I had read in the book that when your period is in balance it comes on during the full moon. I had not been paying attention to the cycle of the moon at all. I could not believe it really worked.

I have had a period ever since over a year later from my single treatment. Also, if I have absolutely no sugar in my diet, I literally have no cramping, nothing. It is so strange. When I mess up and eat sugar, I pay for it during my period.

Please consider getting the Natural remedy book by the kushi's. It gives greater detail about treating uterine cycts. Cindy
