alanna, and bita,
Natural Foods Cookbook http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/bibli...2-0870405837-4 is an excellent and stimulating book written by a woman who was simultaneously a student of macrobiotic cooking at the East West Foundation while attending the C.I.A. (Culinary Institue of America)
http://www.ciachef.edu/ in the late 1970s (I believe she wrote the cover story of a East West Journal magazine titled "Macrobiotics in the CIA" which sold a lot of copies, I'm sure!).
I met Mary in Los Angeles in 1983 before her book was published, and helped with a couple of her cooking classes 2 years later at the Macrobiotic Center in San Francisco.
Mary was energetic, quick moving, and always to the point, as well as a creative cook of very delicious dishes.
Someone told me that she is now teaching Svaroopa Yoga
http://www.masteryoga.org/ , here in Massachusetts.
Another excellent cookbook that has quick and simple recipes is
The Quick and Natural Macrobiotic Cookbook http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...627384-6393502 by Aveline Kushi and Wendy Esko.
But the best of the simple macrobiotic cookbooks still has to be
The Self-Healing Cookbook: A Macrobiotic Primer for Healing Body, Mind and Moods With Whole Natural Foods by Kristina Turner
http://www.simply-natural.biz/Self-Healing-Cookbook.php
You get tasty and healthy recipes with ordinary macrobiotic ingedients.
Bon Appetit!
Merci, beau coup.
