Hi Coconut,
As you may have seen already, there is a macro cooking class coming up in March at the Natural Gourmet Cookery School. Local macro chef Bita Hunt (
www.integrativenutrition.com/graduates/bakedbybita.asp) is teaching the course and the menu looks wonderful! It is however an intermediate course so if you're really lost in the kitchen it's probably not a good place to start.
I'd also invite you to check out the NYC Macrobiotic Meetup Group (
http://macrobiotic.meetup.com/6/). If you aren't familiar with Meetup, it's a forum to bring together locals with similar interests. We have a lot of newcomers in the group who'd like to learn more about macrobiotic cooking. Perhaps we can talk to Bita about arranging a beginning cooking course for us! She's based in Long Island, but she comes into the city regularly.
We'd love to see you at our next event. Even if you can't swing the price of classes now (Bruce is right...they can be pricey) you should join us for tea or dinner sometime. I love to cook and am always ready to swap recipes and tips! (Speaking of which, I'd say that it's worth having a pressure cooker. It is a real timesaver and has saved me from takeout on many occasions!)
Best wishes,
Noele
