Arrow Re: Ginger Bath

Rafflesia/Kristin,

1. Ginger bath taken as a whole body bath: add ordinary ginger water (freshly prepared or left over after applying compresses) to a whole body bath. This is very stimulating, yet relaxing.

2. Ginger bath taken as a footbath or hand bath: Use ordinary ginger water. This bath is good in cases of rheumatism, arthritis, or gout.

Detailed instructions for the Ginger Compress can be found in a link in Bill Neall's post earlier in this thread. Grated fresh ginger is placed in a cotton bag (cheesecloth works well), tied, and sqeezed into hot water, then add the bag itself. The amount of ginger depends upon the amount of water to be used, and for what purpose. In the case of concentrated Ginger Compresses on the stomach area -- usually grate fresh ginger the size of a golf ball, tie it in cheesecloth, squeeze the ginger juice into a pot of hot water on the stove (Do Not Boil), then also add the bag. This water can then be used later for a whole body bath. Or, make fresh for a whole body bath.

Information on the Ginger Compress is available online (search) and also detailed in many macrobiotic books on home remedies. Particularly books by Michio and Aveline Kushi. Check the link mentioned earlier in this thread.

Check Kaare Bursell's website www.alchemycalpages.com for a comprehensive description of the Ginger Compress and its benefits.
