Re: Intolerancy to Macrobiotic Diet in a patient with Cancer
Ana,
Sorry to hear of your father's illness. Yet, he has indeed started down the right path. What kind of cancer does he have? What kind of cancer treatments is he receiving? What has he eaten on the macrobiotic diet, thus far?
1. Yes, he may be discharging and detoxing.
2. We're here to help. Also a qualified macrobiotic counselor in your area would help immensely.
3. For those very sick with cancer having poor digestion, brown rice cream is recommended as the most nutritious, balancing, detoxing, healing food. Brown rice cream is one cup of brown rice cooked with five cups of water. Simplify the diet to as close to a #7 as possible (brown rice and bancha tea only). Move to a #6, as he is able (brown rice, bancha tea, and steamed root vegetables). Brown rice cream is the most easily digestible, as the fiber is broken down as it is cooked in more water. Still nutritious.
My advice would be to simplify as much as possible until he is feeling better. Plain grains, bancha tea, and steamed vegetables, -only- for the time being.
Recommended book: The Cancer Prevention Diet, Michio Kushi
Hope to hear from you soon,
Nancy
