You know, that quote you cited from the Bible doesn't actually mean there are no ghosts - in fact, if interpreted a different way, it's saying there ARE in fact ghosts.
Consider it: "While the living are conscious of their spiritual needs, the dead are conscious of nothing."
So ghosts can reside on this plane of existance and not realize they're dead at all. Or they can reside here and are not aware of "their spiritual needs." It does not mean ghosts are non-existant.
And why would every encounter with a ghost be a "demon" encounter? Not always do they harm us, nor have malicious intentions. That's what you define as demon, or isn't it?
