All the time people ask me what is macrobiotics when I say it's my diet. i go into an explanation about how its a philosophy and diet involving yin and yang and balance, etc. but they just say "nevermind" or dont understand and ask me what i cant eat anymore. for them diet is all about WHAT, i explain to them the WHAT for me is like being vegan with organic foods and no caffeine and sugar but feel really wrong when i explain it that way, it is not what macro is about. people dont understand its not like Adkins or the SOuth Beach diet where everything is about weight loss or restriction, MB is a philosophy. It is a spriritual, mental, and physical journey for balance. I guess it took me a while to grasp macrobiotics conceptually, so I understand their confusion. But i wish they werent so resistant to the complexity of MB, i dont want them to convert but just understand. Anyway, right now I'm feeling very balanced. Ive been keeping up a great exercise regime, despite my time constraints with school. 30 minutes a day, going between running, walking, yoga, and swimming. right now I am the only one in senior year who is not dependent on alcohol, sugar or caffeine to stay "sane" or keep on going with my studies. Its a good feeling, even though i sometimes resent their ability to get "fake" energy from those substances and be able to cram long into the night. Oh well, all part of the journey, and more than worth it in the long run.

Right now im chewing on organic mint leaves from our garden, how refreshing.
