The Hip Bath is a remedy to assist in the circulation of the pelvic girdle recommended for women. When used in conjuction with the Ginger Compress for the intestines it is most useful to loosen pile-ups that have accumulated on the ovaries, uterus and bladder. (See Article Ginger Compress for relief of Intestinal Stagnation).
This is named the Daikon Hip Bath because some of us looking for this subject
re the Macrobiotic reference will be more familiar with this title. It is a hip bath,
where dried diakon leaves are usually the recommended item to use...
But because it is not always easy to dry them oneself, or find them to buy,
there are alternatives to the daikon leaves that will work just as well. This site,
Cybermacro.com offers the leaves for sale. Please check with Gary Mill at

Regardless of what of the list given below you use, the procedures,
expectations and cautions apply for the process.
.
I have taken Dr. Kaare Bursell's Daikon Bath information and instructions
posted on his site, www.alchemycalpages.com and added information from
my own personal experience. I should like to refer you there to see what he is
saying about the subject, perhaps even be moved to purchase his wonderful
book which gives the more expanded view on the benefits of the grain/vegetable
diet. And the necessity of the usage of the ginger compress for both men and
women and the hip baths for the women only.
I am so grateful for all the ways
Dr. Bursell works to get the attention of the community about the importances
of the compresses and the baths. So many people begin a diet with grains as
their mainstay with the use of vegetables, and fruits grown in season in our temperate
zone, sea vegetables, a good quality sea salt, miso and after 6 months to a year
or more, complain that it doesn't "work". The food is food for people and that never fails.

(Kaare)

Unfortunately what happens is a person comes into the change of diet with a
blood and bowel condition that is putrid that without attention to that detail. The
good food can support a person's well-being except to only a certain point.
It is my opinion that a new change that is implemented without paying
attention to the years of pile-up inside that is contributing to sickness/poor
health will not provide the level of success you are hoping for.
(Dorcas)
I liken it a house which has been destroyed by flood. Would you rebuild
without removing all the mud and signs of destruction? Would you buy all
good materials and pay your hard earned money to refurbish without cleaning it out
first? You would want to be sure the water was draining out and coming in with
safety. You would want to be sure the toilets flush. You would want to be sure
the electric can be turned on safely. You could move in without cleaning up first...
you could use some false flooring through out the house and just the leave the
mud to dry out in its own time so you could be inside. You could use a bucket
to haul your water in and your waste water out. You could use a bucket to haul
out your waste from your body or run to the neighbor's house to use the toilet
and bathe. You could use an ice chests or hook up to a neighbor's facilities.
You could do it that way, but you would be more peaceful knowing it is as
habitable, safe and comfortable, clean from the inside out, and top to bottom
as you can make it. The compresses and baths are the clean-up and maintenance
crew for your temple.
We come into the diet change expecting the diet to be the above all to end all
without helping our body prepare for the usage of the new foods, then we are
back to blaming the outside world for what is not happening as we would have liked.
Your body may have been so abused for so long that you may have to pay special
attention to special "housecleaning" for the rest of your life. Regardless of our
condition, like daily janitorial jobs we have to do daily in our homes, attention to this
body home we abide in will need attention to the inside workings because we will use
party food that has no vitamins, minerals and fiber from time to time. Some of us live
in polluted environments, we won't always exercise regularly, we won't always take
the time to chew, and so it is prudent of us to offer the best support to ourselves by
steady and regular ways to aid our digestive tract. And in this case the use of the
compresses and hip baths to help keep the steady flow of undigested, unmetabolized food.
SCHEDULE FOR THE BATHS: (Kaare)

In the case of women, do the ginger compress on the abdomen 2x a week.

In addition, a home remedy called the Daikon Bath (which is called the

universal home remedy for all female organ conditions) should be done

2x a week while doing the 2 ginger compresses a week (See Articles

Section, also Macrobiotic Blogs): The treatment regimen

being a total of 32 ginger compresses and 32 Daikon Baths over a

period of16-20 weeks. These treatments are absolutely to no avail

if they are not also accompanied by a change to a macrobiotic dietary

practice. (Vegetables in season, and grains appropriate to the season.

No nightshades or tropical fruits. No dairy or saturated fats.)

(Dorcas)

If you are menstruating during your schedule of compresses and baths,

finish with your flowing and resume your bath schedule again

with the 2 and 2.

If you are

cramping, you might enjoy the warmth of the ginger compress for relief.

Or just fill your hot water bottle, go to bed and rest. Your body is

needing nurturing as it is discharging the accumulated monthly waste.

ITEMS NEEDED;

One gallon container with a lid. This container is to be used for the

healing work you will be doing. You can use this to make your water

for your compresses too (this information is given on Dr. Bursell's site as well...

That container

is best an enameled steel pot. No cast iron, stainless steel or aluminum.

With each use, it is only necessary to rinse it with plain water and wipe it dry.

No need to scrub off the stains that will accumulate.

Do not use special cleansers to remove stains. You will not be

cooking food in this pot. It is strictly for preparing your solutions for healing.

The vibration from the leaves stays in the pot and is used for healing only.

(Dorcas) I have added to the list of recommended leaves to use from my own notes

and experiences of their uses).

The following can be used for the hip bath:

Daikon Leaves

Turnip greens

Comfrey leaves

Dandelion Greens

arame sea vegetalbe

Chestnut leaves

mugwort

Oak Leaves

Pine Needles

(Dorcas)

You will need the leaves of what would have been on 4-5 fresh bunches of daikon

radish.

If you buy your leaves (all leaves...whether you buy or dry yourself) packaged,

you will need 4-5 oz.

Of the pine needles, you would need 3 oz x 4-5, or 12 to 15 oz. per bath;

of the arame sea vegetable, you would need 2 oz. x 4-5 or 8 - 10 per bath.

Of the Mugwort powder, you will need abut 4 oz or 16 -20 oz. per bath.

So for 2 baths a week, you need to double the amount. Then you need to

plan to buy enough for 2 baths a week x 16. For your diakon leaves,

check with Gary Mill at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for information.

If you should like to find sources for your own leaves to dry, it is

done by hanging them to dry in a place sheltered from direct sunlight

until the leaves turn crisp. Ask your store manager to save the leaves for you.

Arame is usually found in bulk in some coops or health food stores. I have used

the non-organic for my baths at times.

Dandelion greens can be foraged, washed and dried. The same with the

chestnut, oak leaves and pine needles. Perhaps one of your friends has

comfrey growing in his/her garden that you might be able to negotiate

for or buy. I have not foraged for mugwort, only bought the powder and the tea.

You will need salt: (Kaare)

One generous handful of any kind of seasalt or rock salt/ice cream salt.

(Dorcas) The grey salt is dirty so I would reserve its use for your other needs.

ITEMS TO PREPARE FOR BEFORE THE BATH:

For your bath, you can have ready for yourself a comfortably warm bathroom,

a granny nighty or pajamas, perhaps a cotton flannel one, a towel to use as a

shawl to keep you warm, if you would like, your robe and slippers. Also, a cool

cloth for your forehead is useful to keep your head cool. You can have the tub

ready to fill. Have a scarf by your pillow to put on your head to hold in your heat.

Have a cover that will keep your body heat up longer, because you might sweat,

which is want we are aiming for. The toxins that will be stirred up will exit the

skin after the bath.

You might need to get out your douche bag (see Douching).

INSTRUCTIONS: (Kaare)

Into ½ gallon of water, add the equivalent of 4-5 (4-5 ozs) bunches of the

dried leaves. Bring to a boil and turn down heat and simmer for half an hour.

Keep the water gently rolling. Then add the handful of salt, and turn off heat.

Meanwhile run a hot bath with a enough water to be level to your navel.

With the level this high, it should be enough to cover your body up to your

neck if you chose to lie down in the water.

(Dorcas)

I use an utility sink which is placed

inside the tub on 2 pieces of wood to allow the water to drain when I empty

the bath water. I fill it to the point that I can sit in it with the level of water

need to cover my navel. I used to do the whole body bath when my husband

was alive and would sit with me in case I fainted, because I am given to fainting

easily. But because, I am doing them without his help now, I use the sink and do

just a hip bath, with my feet in a tub of water and shroud myself with a towel

around my shoulders to keep warm and a cool cloth for my head. If I were to

faint, I would fall forward or to the side.

Strain the concoction so no leaves will be in your tub with the water.

The leaves are discarded. What you have prepared is a tea, so it will look like

a dark brown, muddy tea. Put all of the amount of the concoction you have

prepared into your filled tub.

Have the water as hot as you can stand and soak for 15-20 minutes.

While in the water, it is useful to massage the abdomen. Begin with the

left side above the pubic bone on the left side and do rotational, circular

movements always moving down toward the pubic bone. Continue up to the

splenic flexure, which is on the left, all the while massaging downward

toward the left side of pubic bone. Do more rotational massaging movements

across the transverse colon (across from the left ribs to the right side of the ribs).

Then massage back over to the left and down to left side at the pubic bone.

Then massage up from the right side of the pubic up to the ileocecal valve

continuing up toward the hepatic flexure on the right side and continue across

and down the left side to the pubic: This way, you will be aiding in the way the

waste leaves the body. Don't forget to exhale while doing the massaging.

You can massage and breathe at the same time :)

Now before you are ready to leave the tub, you can do what Cornelia

calls "finger douching"...that is to say, she never does the douching the

next morning as most instructions call for. Before she alights from the tub,

she uses her finger to clean the vagina about 10x's. (This is why I suggest

you not use the grey salt.) Dr. Bursell suggests the

umeboshi solution the following morning. Towel dry as rapidly as you can,

dress in pajamas or dressing gown, put a scarf on your head and go to bed.

Keep warm.

This bath is best done in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Here in AZ, it is too hot and

too yangizing for an already yang population and climate to do this treatment into

the middle of May until October, unless one resides in the high country. I have

used the bath into the warmer weather, but just do not use hot, hot water. I go

for the vibration of the remedy. And a bath is always useful, even if tepid in the

hot weather.

ACTIVITY OF THE DRIED LEAVES: (Kaare)

The result of the dried leaves and the salt energetically cuts through the

fatty, mucus deposits in the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and breasts

(even if you are not lying in the bath up to your neck), bladder and

bladder walls and dissolves the deposits. (Dorcas) Some of the dissolved mucoid

waste is discharged by way of the pelvic girdle orifices will be excreted in the

form, usually, of copious vaginal discharge.

The heat of the bath stimulates the overall blood and lymph circulation

so that when you get into bed well-covered, you will eventually begin

to sweat and in some cases, profusely.

Some women begin to sweat on the first occasion of doing the bath,

but usually it takes several weeks of the applications because most

women have lots of accumulated fat under the skin and this needs to

get dissolved first before real sweating can begin.

(Dorcas)

In the morning you can shower off. Also,

in the morning,

roll back your covers and let your bed air out so the perspiration

does not sour. It is best to change the sheets and put them back

on at the end of the day, so the mattress can air out. It is best to

use a fresh nightgown/pajamas for the bath the next night as well. This

bedclothing has taken up toxins from your body through the night and

as long as you are in the cleansing mode, it is best not to don the

clothing that has absorbed those poisons without washing them all.

Your skin will take up the poisons from the unwashed clothing making

it another job for your kidneys to handle while they are busy excreting

not only what they usually do via the skin but now with the speeding

up of the circulation with these modalities. That being the preferred

way to handle the bedding, the next way, is to open the windows

wider and let the fresh air in to dry the bedding.

Another idea is to hang the bedding

out in the sunshine so the sun can sanitize the bedding during the day and

reuse it again. I am hoping you will find the energy to change the sheets

and clothing for the rest of the week though after your 2 compresses and 2

baths.

(Kaare)

The resulting activity of the hip bath occurs, if and only if accompanied

by a change to a macrobiotic diet of cooked whole grains and vegetables

with the understanding of the proper use of salt and salt quality.

The benefits of the bath are as follows:

A cleansing and tonification of the female organs.

A thorough cleansing of the skin, including facial skin, which is

truly remarkable to see. A dissolving and melting away of fat

deposits everywhere in the body.

Therefore, it is used in all conditions of the breasts, ovaries,

fallopian tubes and uterus/vagina, for helping to lose weight,

and as a tremendous skin cleanser, WHEN DONE IN UNION

WITH THE DIET OF COOKED WHOLE GRAINS AND

VEGETABLES, WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE NIGHTSHADES

AND FREE FLOWING OILS AND SATURATED FATS.

CAUTION:

Do not use the Hip Bath if you have any heart/or high blood pressure or

condition requiring medication. See a macrobiotic practioner for a

consultation so s/he can monitor your progress as you change from foods which

contributed to the intestinal stagnation to

the whole grains and vegetables.

S/he can offer you suggestions as to when it seems the right time then

to begin the hip bath regimen.

Men do not do the hip bath: They will follow other instructions

by doing the ginger compresses only (4x a week). See Articles or Macrobiotic

Blogs for Ginger Compress on Cybermacro.com.

It is best for the first 3 to 4 weeks of being the bath regimen to not

schedule any appointments for the day after doing the bath. You may tend to

feel somewhat tired and the body will benefit from the rest.

Your body is unloading waste from accumulations from food that

built unhealty tissue and from food that has stagnated along the route out.

(Kaare)

The cleansing of the female organs ie vaginal discharge and/or

symptoms similar to urinary tract infections ie burning and itching

and the urge to urinate frequently may occur; and sometimes fever will occur.

(Dorcas)

Your body is helping you to throw off the trapped poisons inside your tissue.

Dorcas) You might be tempted to go to the ER or your M. D., but if you

will just relax and let your

body work for you, you will pass through these phases.

(Do not take antibiotics as this will suppress all the action of what

you are wanting to do with the regimen and that is loosen up the

wastes to move out. Talk to the practioner about your concerns.)

DOUCHING: (Kaare)

When the abovementioned symptoms occur, make a douche as follows:

Place the flesh of 6-7 umeboshi plums in one quart of water and bring

to a boil.

Switch off the heat and let cool to body temperature. Then strain out

one cup and use to douche. The next day, reheat a cup of the water

until reaches body temperature and douche again of the strained liquid.

Repeat daily until the liquid is gone. Then add 3-4 new Umeboshi plums

to the ones you have already in the pot. Add one quart of water, bring to

boil and proceed as before. Do for 20 days, 1x a day. Save the pits.

(Dorcas)

I will tell you that if you notice an odoriferous smell that is familiar and

similar to an old menstrual pad, if you smell a fishiness about you, I would

suggest you douche with the umeboshi recipe during the time you are in a

cleansing mode with the baths/compresses . The strange odor will be a

sign of releasing of old waste from the tissues in the digestive- pelvic girdle.

The waste from the small intestine and large intestine cross contaminate the

digestive and reproductive organs. The smell coming off is something to

rejoice because your healing powers are indicating a sign that your

vibratory levels are raised enough to loosen up old matter. This old

proteinaceous discharge is better helped out further by the douching.

If the smell started before you started the cleansing program...oh well...

your body was working very hard to dump the waste and trying to

get your attention crying for help. Douching on a regular basis is not

suggested, but because you are in a focused cleansing mode, for the

short haul, the umeboshi douche is most useful.

GOOD SIGNS EVEN THOUGH DISCHARGING: (Kaare)

When you might have some discharge signs as mentioned above,

which can also include fever, don't be concerned about the discomforts

that will visit you as long as:

-You still feel as though you could still eat your next meal.

-You don't have nausea.

-Your energy is still up, even though you might feel the need for a little rest,

especially if your bowels unload in unusually way...ie feces that is watery,

black, greasy, stringy, hard ball like substances, ropes, or unusually mucous-like...

If a fever is evoked, you can use some tofu mixed up with some flour to

hold it together, put in a cheesecloth, and applied to your forehead to

cool you down more naturally...Do not put a tofu compress on your belly area...

-You still are able to sleep as you have been.

NON FOOD ITEMS TO AVOID: (Dorcas)

It is important that during your ginger compress and hip bath routine to not use

lotions on your skin, deodorants, shampoos that have ingredients you cannot

pronounce, including hair sprays, hair dryers, mousse's, perms, dyes, etc.

because the small intestine sends its effluvia up through the lungs and out

the little chimnies, the hair strands, to release the every day poisons when not

on a cleansing program on the one hand, and when in the planned cleansing mode,

these strands need to be clean from hair preparations/conditioners so the poisons

can exit easier. If you block the skin and hair, these poisons have to be handled by

the already over tired kidneys. These make the poison go deeper so consequently

more difficult to discharge if ever...

Skin brushing with a dry vegetable bristle brush will be useful to unload the skin

of its waste that will be evoked by the baths and compresses. You can find this

brush at the health food store for abour $8.00. Yerba Prima is a company

that makes them. I am hoping you will make skin brushing a part of your daily hygiene.

DISCHARGES: (Dorcas)

If skin discharges happen, or it seems every orifice in your body is letting go of unfamiliar

discharges, or a cradle cap- like scaling from your head down your brow into your eyebrows

happens, scaling in other parts of your body, etc., you are oozing between your toes,

having smelly discharge behind your ears and from your nose, just hang loose and be patient.

Don't run for an emergency room. You may want to consult with your counselor for

ideas to help ease discomforts. It means your body is strong enough to release its poisons

and if you are patient and rest and just let them BE so they can discharge in their own time,

you will be ready for a wonderful feeling of energy and clarity each time you pass through

whatever discharges are evoked from each cleansing...

After a 16 week regime of the ginger compresses and hip baths, 2 each a week,

you are ready for a 6 week rest...then after that week week period, you will be

ready to start again for 16 more weeks. Do this about for 3 rounds of 16 weeks

of 2 compresses and 2 baths a week. (For men their schedule is for 4 compresses

for 16 weeks). Then thereafter, work to do the 16 week routine 2 times a year for

the rest of your digesting days. If during the time after you have put into this project,

you can stay off the non-foods, your 2x a year routine will not only but a sustaining,

maintaining benefit, but a health building one.

If you feel weepy, irritable, fearful, depressed, anxious during this time, it might be

because you are releasing toxins from the organ systems, blood, brain/nervous system.

The blocked emotions that are related to those systems that got locked in, for instance,

perhaps due to some trauma, sickness whereby antibiotics were used which suppressed

the release of the poisons, are now taking the opportunity to move out too.

There is nothing wrong with you! You are on course and going for health in your emotions also.

You will be needing much patience. The Macrobiotic diet is about supporting

you and your spiritual path while your body heals itself. It is a time for journaling,

reflecting...finding someone who cares about how you feel so you can hear your own

words without advising, judging, humoring, diverting, lecturing etc. you so you can be

heard accurately to help you get some clarity. That person may have to be a professional.

Perhaps you might look to someone in your church family...some member in the family...

a support group...

There is a teaching called Hering's Law...which says that we heal from the head down

(emotionally), the inside out (inside us to the covering of us, our skin) and the order

of the maladies that came upon us.

So for instance, if as a child I were treated with drugs, say pneumonia (the order of

the malady that came upon us) and now am doing this cleansing. I may experience

some of the same signs I had when I had the sickness. I may feel emotionally the

same way as then. (Go back and check the list under Good Signs... and if you

are falling in that category, you are discharging and need time to let it pass through...)

This discharge is a good sign...it says your body has the energy to have its vibration

raised to the point that it can throw off those poisons. It may take several occasions

like this to unload the body.

If it is a problem like a tumor or cyst (inside-out), it will show its cleansing more and

more as the body unloads it waste from all the tissues in the body. It may present in

a way as rashes, flu like symptoms, weakness and more fatigue.

After each release, you will feel stronger and with more energy.

If it is an emotional detox, (head down), it may be about some emotional trauma that

got locked in and now scenes arise so you can get clear for your own self-compassion

and perhaps compassion for the one(s) who knowingly or unknowingly hurt you.

You may need professional care to help move you through the last bits of what

you have gotten more clear about. You will not need lifelong care talking over and

over your problem with a professional. You may only need just a little help to move

through some of the puzzling parts...or not.

The issues that are raised may crop up

in bits and pieces for the rest of your life, but be grateful for the mercy of that because

it will be given to you in the doses Mother Nature deems you are ready to handle it...

so that you move with more ease from woundedness to wholeness.

The Macrobiotic diet is about supporting you and your spiritual path while your body

heals itself. It is a time for journaling, reflecting...finding someone who cares about

how you feel so you can hear your own words without hearing advising, judging, humoring,

diverting, lecturing etc. you so you can be heard accurately to help you get some

clarity. That person may have to be a professional. Perhaps you might look to

someone in your church family...some member in the family...a support group.

You do not need electric shock

treatments. Your brain will be cleansing too (relationship to the intestines) and

from the limbic system will come emotions that for the most part are not the

most helpful no matter the events of your life. This physiology of release will

engage the cerebrum and feelings arise. The choices we make from those

feelings that were evoked by thinking have many times set us up for very

destructive behaviors and verbal communications which have cut a wide

swath in our lives. You might need some direction from a professional to help you

get clear about all the feelings that can come up and give you some tools on how

to differentiate between emotions and feelings.

If after the cleanses, you are moved to get medical tests that may show

something genetically awry, the medical professional will prescribe for you.

I can tell you that when your blood is so toxic and your thyroid is doing its best

to hold it together for you, the medical profession will find an imbalance. If you

are not already on medication for depression, or thyroid disease, you might enjoy

a degree of clarity after the cleanses that might be enough to signal to you that your

functions are clean and clear to perform as nature intended.

More than one client has gone in for lab tests that showed an elevation in certain

which issue in question was not a problem before but numbers

which will reflect changes because so many toxins are evoked with the cleansing.

Please consult your health professional with any concerns about lab results if you

opted for medical care during this time.

I remember when I was first told about Hering's Law and what I could expect as a part

of my detoxing, if I wanted to be well. I panicked. I was frozen to imagine that I would

have to pass through some of the familiar symptoms which were mostly treated by the

medical profession. But because I was slipping so fast by then into a hopeless existence,

I went for it. I have been through some wild rides with detoxing, but because I had the

understanding that I would be visited with things I was already familiar with and it would

not be as bad as it was when it happened and wouldn't last for as long as it did when it

happened, I felt confident that I could endure.

There is a greater degree of health awaiting you, if you are willing to step up to the plate

and go for it. WITH NO EXPECTATIONS! What will occur then will be all bonuses

and grace! And you don't have to like the way it is happening or not happening.

You might make a list of the medical treatments and surgical interventions you have

had during your life so you can watch for similar symptoms.

Be in partnership with your counselor so there can be an awareness of the possibilities

of signs to watch for during discharges. For instance, one woman was treated for lice

as a child. Into her adulthood she suffered with headaches and cried all the time. When

she was cleansing, the eggs which were suppressed from the treatment, hatched.

The treatment worked on the adult lice but locked the eggs into her scalp. We would

need someone close by to ease the discomfort with a natural remedy to ease the cleansing.

Tell your counselor so you can be adequately supported. Another case was a woman

who was a hairdresser and during one of her rounds she release blue/purple dye through

her hands from giving perms years before. In that case, just letting the chemicals

discharge is adqeuate. The smell coming off would smell similar to permanent solution.

If you have been treated for worms and parasites with medication, your counselor should

know. This kind of cleansing will not happen with just the baths. It is with the combination

of the compresses in conjuction with the baths that these kinds of dramatic results happen.

I got sick when I was in my 20's when I went to live in Mexico after my second year college

Spanish class and I am still not the same. But I am so near what I felt like when I was that

age now as then. Sometimes, I still discharge as I did when I got sick then. I have the fever;

and the signs in the colon arise. I am so grateful that my body can still muster up enough

vibration, like shaking barnacles off a ship and the baths and compresses are the lasers!

I have enough energy to keep unloading the waste that set me up for the problem then...I

am guessing you can imagine how grateful I am.

FREQUENCY OF ROUTINE:

Sometimes after the baths, I might feel I am still having lots of inner movement, being stirred up,

and feel the need to settle down a little before stirring up the process again, so I may give

myself a day off during this 16 week schedule. The recommended schedule goes like this:

Begin with 2 days doing the compresses...So let's say you begin Monday night, so there's

one done and the next a.m. you do the 2nd one. Both compress sessions are done for the

week. Then 2 days off till you do the baths. Then you do a bath 2 nights in a row. Then 2

days off before you start the compresses again until you accomplish 32 compresses and

32 baths in 16-20 weeks. I have added the extra weeks in case you need time to

recuperate like I have to at times.

SO WHY DO ALL THIS?

You may need to put up some kind of reminder for yourself about the reason you are

doing this project. These compresses and baths are helping you to loosen up old waste

that is holding you back in your energy and health not for just now, but in your aging

years so you would be more inclined to stay on course. The lining of the colon exudes

a protective mucous when foods are eating that are not healthful to the organism.

But because foods that are promoted as food are so much a part of the everyday diet,

the lining cannot longer produce this protection. It does until it can't anymore.

Soon I hope to have pictures to show

what can come out of one as a result of the cleansing which might help make a believer

out you so you can see what is lurking inside that may even be in there from birth.

You can see for yourself how it is that halitosis and body odor have their roots...

right inside your own roots...your intestines. For instance, if you were not breastfed

the meconium, the black waste that accumulated during your gestation did not have the

benefits from the first feeding to help eliminate it. If you have eaten your share of

fast food, sugar, meat, chocolate, tobacco (ie snuff and were in the habit of swallowing it),

coke, coffee, hydrogenated fats, fried foods, you have undigested, unmetabolized waste

in the sacculations of your colon. You have CIS, as Dr. Bursell calls it: Chronic Intestinal

Stagnation. The villi in the small intestine are gummed up so that they cannot pull the

nutrition from your food so that the mass just passes through...or not!

By using these recommendations, you are working with the timing of nature by allowing

time for the body to discharge and rebuild as you go along. The ginger compresses zero

in to help loosen up the wasted collected for so many years and to increase circulation

to the walls of the intestines. Colonics or enemas, and bowel cleanses do unload

waste old and current, but do not increase circulation from the inside of the colon out

to its tissue which forms the walls of the intestines bringing a healthy blood supply to

the walls. There are 3 things important to health: Circulation, Circulation, Circulation!

I am so grateful to the Source of this Being that these remedies from the Ancients

are available to us today to help increase our feeling of well-being without nostrums,

powders etc. It takes energy and time and effort and money. Either we pay as we go

along, or we pay at the end...Cleansing versus a predictable surgery down the

road makes very good sense to me.

So now...if you decide to make this kind of commitment, you will need to learn to cook

with whole foods without the use of baking soda, baking powder white sugar, white flour,

dyed teas, caffeinated drinks, over the counter and street drugs, butter, transfats, tropical

oils except those that are in the cells of the foods that contain them like beans, grains,

nuts, seeds/nuts which are best grown in our own temperate zone. Learn to find the best

produce in your area. Use proteins that are natural like those in beans, grains, vegetables,

sea vegetables, good quality bread made without yeast, good quality sea food and eggs

for when your counselor signals you that you can add them, if you would like or need them.

Even fruits have a small amount of protein and fat. Use a good quality salt, not the kind we usually

see in the grocery store which has been heated to 2000 degrees. Check with

EXERCISE: (Dorcas)

Walk to turn your new good food into muscle, bone and sinew. Don't forget to breathe.

By unloading your body from all the foods you were using that were not conducive to health,

your circulation will be faster because you will have more oxygen. But breathing while walking

really is a bonus to your lungs. You can see my Blog on Hara breathing if you would like.

You can use an exercise ball to sit on to gently bounce on to help move your lymph, as

well as a mini trampoline. Build up gradually. You can do some movement exercises.

The George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation, 1.800.232.2372 sells a wonderful book

on the subject of Sotai by Hashimoto that makes for a very useful home exercise program.

If you are finding yourself fatigued during the cleanses, rest is what you are needing because

you are already stirring up enough as it is. Save the vigorous work on

the trampoline for the 6 week interval. Unless, you have someone who can jump on the

trampoline while you put your feet on the trampoline while seated and catch a free ride

for a few minutes at a time. Or you can just bounce without your feet leaving

the mat for a few minutes at a time several times a day. Don't forget to breathe while

doing your bounces.

If you find this information useful, I would like to hear from you.

If you are needing clarification on some of the points I have brought up, I would welcome

the communication. Dr. Bursell is always open to hearing your comments as well.
